COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

LIBERATA COLLECTIVE CIC

Company Number: 14457947 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 30 November 2025

Company activities and impact

The company is a performing arts and education company reigniting the historical practice of Baroque Gesture (a specific type of acting which has been mostly lost in the evolution of classical music performance over the last century). We began operating in November 2022 and during the financial year of Nov 2024 - Nov 2025 the company has benefitted local communities in Wales and has continued to provide much-needed employment to freelance musicians and other creatives. - Local audiences in Wales enjoyed a performance of Mozart’s La Clemenza di Tito at the Beaumaris Festival in May 2025, where Liberata Collective also presented a pre-performance talk. This was the second year that LC have performed at the festival and many patrons remarked on how they have benefitted from the repeat visit and building on their knowledge of baroque gesture. - Company co-directors Susanna MacRae and Olivia Doutney continued to boost knowledge about Baroque Gesture among the classical music community, contributing to audience engagement through talks and online social media posts. - This year has also been a year of significant planning and company development, proposing a new original work based on the life of Marie Antoinette and securing several bookings for the 2026 Festival Season. There has been a necessary quietening of performances this year in order to facilitate the launch and development of the next show. - LC provided contract employment to 14 musicians during the 2025 Festival period, offering fair wages along with accommodation and travel expenses. This group included several young artists being given valuable opportunities at the onset of their careers.

Consultation with stakeholders

The company’s stakeholders remain the same as last year, these are musicians, creatives, venue staff, festival staff and audiences who may either participate in or observe performances given by Liberata Collective. The directors of the company have been professional musicians for over 10 years and have developed the business model based on what they see is often missing in the classical music industry. We continue to ask audiences to submit their feedback to performances, to sign up to newsletters and to contact us with ideas. We consult with professional bodies such as the ISM & MU to ensure fair treatment of our musicians. Our research has enabled us to identify materials that are useful to audiences and contracts which are beneficial to the musicians. We held one open “Q&A” session during the year (in the same location as last year) to gather feedback from stakeholders (audiences). This was held in Beaumaris Festival in May and gave us valuable feedback.
