COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

SHEAR BROOK WOOD COMMUNITY INTEREST COMPANY

Company Number: 15860123 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 30 December 2025

Company activities and impact

In its first financial year, Shear Brook Wood CIC has started to develop a woodland-based community space, to provide opportunities for people to connect with nature, improve wellbeing and take part in practical conservation. Regular volunteer workdays enabled local people to participate in woodland management, habitat restoration and practical countryside skills. Volunteers contributed to improving woodland condition through activities including invasive species control, footpath maintenance, tree management and habitat enhancement. The company established partnerships with local organisations, to increase access to nature-based activities for people who may otherwise face barriers to participation. Preparatory work was undertaken for programmes supporting wellbeing, social prescribing and outdoor education. Significant improvements were made to the woodland infrastructure, including restoration of ponds, improvements to access, and the continued development of facilities to support future community use. These works will enable a wider range of educational, environmental and wellbeing activities to take place safely in future years. Grant funding secured during the year has been reinvested into improving the woodland for community benefit, with all activities undertaken in accordance with the company's community interest objectives.
