During the financial year, the CIC received a £600 grant from One Walsall, supported by Arts Council England, which helped fund a visit to Warner Bros. Studio Tour London. The Making of Harry Potter for six CIC members, including myself. The visit was about allowing members to experience something they might not otherwise have access to and to see the creative industries from a different perspective. It allowed them to explore the work that goes into filmmaking, production design, costume, prosthetics, special effects, storytelling, and character creation, while hopefully inspiring them to see what is possible within their own creative journeys. The visit was also personally meaningful to me. I had the opportunity to see the wand my lecturer, Dan Frye, worked with during the production, which was a lovely connection between my own journey into the industry and the experience I shared with the CIC members. Giving back and sharing my knowledge and experience are important parts of what I want the CIC to achieve. Although the CIC did not receive any income from its activities during the year, I continued to support individuals through informal mentoring and guidance. This included sharing practical on-set skills, talking openly about my own experiences of working in the industry, giving advice on how to get into the creative industries, and helping individuals build their confidence and understanding of what it means to work professionally within the sector. I believe that sometimes having someone willing to share their knowledge, open a door, or encourage you can make a real difference. Through the CIC, I want to continue creating opportunities for others, particularly those who may not otherwise have access to industry experience, guidance, or support. The CIC therefore continued to support people to develop their skills, confidence, and aspirations within the creative industries.
