Principal activities of the company

The Act of Repair (TAOR) is a UK-based community interest company dedicated to addressing the enduring legacies of the Transatlantic Slave Trade. TAOR exists to transform historical harm into generational progress. We work across historically significant regions of the UK - where the systems of extraction, trade, and settlement once operated - to create pathways for repair that are practical, measurable, and community-led. Our mission is to repair systemic inequities by equipping African and Caribbean communities with the tools, capital, knowledge, and infrastructure needed to help individuals, families and communities to build sustainable opportunity and long-term prosperity. The principal activity of TAOR is the development and delivery of initiatives that promote community-focused systems, enable strategic investment and recognising the leaders, innovators and change-makers bringing the future we imagine into reality. Additional information

The Directors present their report together with the financial statements for The Act of Repair (TAOR) between 6 November 2024 to 30 November 2025. Throughout the year, the organisation focused on establishing strong operational and governance foundations while developing the structures and programmes required to support future social impact. Activities undertaken during the period included continued organisational development and governance, investment in administrative infrastructure, development of strategic partnerships and networks, and progression of programme planning and service development. The organisation had not yet commenced trading activities during the financial year, although work was undertaken to establish the systems, resources and strategic direction required to support future programme delivery, income generation and long-term sustainability. During the financial year, the organisation generated total income of £00.00. Total expenditure amounted to £478.58, resulting in a deficit of £478.58. Where expenditure exceeded income during the period, this reflected planned investment in establishing the organisation’s operational infrastructure, governance framework and future programme capability rather than operational underperformance. The Directors consider the financial position at the year end to be appropriate for the organisation’s current stage of development. The Directors continue to monitor key areas including financial sustainability, funding diversification, operational capacity, governance compliance, regulatory obligations, data protection and reputation risk. Appropriate policies, procedures and controls are reviewed regularly to support effective governance and responsible management. During the next financial year, the organisation intends to continue developing its programmes and partnerships, pursue sustainable grant and commercial income opportunities, strengthen its governance framework and increase its capacity to deliver measurable community impact. The Directors acknowledge their responsibility for maintaining adequate accounting records, preparing financial statements in accordance with applicable requirements, safeguarding organisational assets and ensuring compliance with statutory obligations.
