Principal activities of the company

The principal activities of Blossnest C.I.C. during the financial year were the provision of community-based activities for families with children aged 0–4 in Birmingham. These included play-based and creative activities for young children and physical wellbeing activities for mothers, aimed at supporting family wellbeing, social interaction and community engagement.

Balance sheet statements

For the year ending 30 June 2026 the company was entitled to exemption under section 477 of the Companies Act 2006 relating to small companies.

  • 1. Accounting policies

    Basis of measurement and preparation

    These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Tangible fixed assets depreciation policy

    Tangible fixed assets are stated at cost less accumulated depreciation. Depreciation is provided on a straight-line basis over the estimated useful lives of the assets, which are three years.

    Other accounting policies

    The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention and in accordance with FRS 102 Section 1A applicable to small entities. The financial statements have been prepared on a going concern basis. Grant income is recognised when the company is entitled to the income and any relevant conditions have been met. Grant income relating to conditions or activities to be fulfilled in future accounting periods is carried forward as deferred income until those conditions are met.

Company activities and impact

During the financial year, Blossnest C.I.C. delivered community-based activities supporting local families with children aged 0–4 in Birmingham. The company delivered the “Play & Stay with Yoga for Mums” programme, providing a welcoming and inclusive environment where parents and carers could attend activities with their children aged 0–4. The programme included play-based and creative activities for children alongside physical wellbeing sessions for mothers. The activities helped reduce social isolation among parents, encouraged social interaction and peer support, promoted maternal physical wellbeing, and provided children aged 0–4 with opportunities for play, creativity and social development. The company aimed to keep activities accessible to local families and to create a supportive community environment where parents and young children could connect, participate in activities and improve their wellbeing.

Consultation with stakeholders

The company’s main stakeholders included parents and carers participating in its community activities. Consultation took place through informal conversations with participants during sessions and through ongoing feedback about the activities provided. Feedback from parents and carers was considered when planning and adapting sessions, including the activities offered, session format and the needs of families with children aged 0–4.

Directors' remuneration

The total amount paid or receivable by directors in respect of qualifying services was £2,470. There were no other transactions or arrangements in connection with the remuneration of directors, or compensation for director’s loss of office, which require to be disclosed.
