Notes to the Financial Statements

for the Period Ended 31 March 2025

  • 1. Accounting policies

    Basis of measurement and preparation

These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Turnover policy

Turnover comprises restaurant takings, card settlements and other operating receipts arising from the company’s ordinary trading activities. It excludes funds introduced personally by the director, including household cost-sharing receipts and other personal-account transfers, which are treated as repayable director-loan funding and not as turnover, donations or capital contributions.

    Other accounting policies

The accounts have been prepared on a going-concern basis. The company remained active and trading during the year and continues to receive financial support from the director and forbearance from connected creditors. However, there is a material uncertainty because future trading, continued creditor support and the outcome of unresolved insurance matters remain uncertain.

Company activities and impact

During the financial year, Crown Monarch C.I.C. continued to operate a licensed restaurant and community-focused venue, providing plant-based and vegetarian food and supporting cultural and community activity. The company benefited the community by maintaining an inclusive local venue where customers and members of the wider community could access vegetarian and plant-based food, meet socially and take part in cultural and community activities. Despite significant financial and operational pressures and restricted trading hours, the company continued to provide continuity of service and community support. The company also maintained relationships with customers and community members developed through its earlier community work and support provided during and after the COVID period. Much of this activity was sustained through substantial unpaid practical support from the director and his family, enabling the company to continue operating for the benefit of the local community.
