Land and buildings
The company’s holiday let properties are held for use in the ordinary course of its trade of providing furnished holiday accommodation. These properties are accounted for as tangible fixed assets under Section 17 of FRS 102.
Land and buildings are stated at cost less any accumulated impairment losses. Land and buildings are not depreciated.
Expenditure on improvements is capitalised; repairs and maintenance are charged to the profit and loss account as incurred.
Impairment of assets
At each reporting date the company reviews the carrying amounts of its tangible fixed assets to determine whether there is any indication that those assets have suffered an impairment loss. If any such indication exists, the recoverable amount of the asset is estimated and any shortfall is recognised immediately in the profit and loss account.
