During the period, Enroute Group CIC continued to deliver its community interest objectives through it's transport research and policy engagement activities. Since the previous accounts, the Company published two original research papers examining guided busways and green infrastructure in urban transport, and two consultation responses to the Government's Integrated National Transport Strategy Call for Ideas and the Spring Budget. The Company also published four public statements responding to significant national transport and fiscal announcements, and nine blog articles connecting volunteers' interests and experiences to the Company's key sustainability themes. These activities built upon the Company's wider body of work, which over its lifetime has included research into rail re-openings, international rail connectivity, high-speed rail, long-term transport strategy and collaboration with organisations across transport. The Company has sought to provide opportunities for volunteers, particularly young people looking to develop transport industry experience, to develop research and policy skills and knowledge. Following careful consideration, the Directors have concluded that the administrative and governance requirements associated with operating a Community Interest Company are no longer proportionate to the level of activity that can be sustained by a volunteer-led organisation. As a result, the Company has ceased operations as of May 2026. Existing research will be preserved, and the Company's publications will remain publicly accessible through a legacy website.
The Directors have continued to engage with the Company's stakeholders throughout the accounting period, including volunteers, research partners, supporters and those with an interest in transport policy. Stakeholders have been informed of the planned closure, and the Directors are ensuring that the Company's legacy is preserved.
