During the period from 1st March 2025 to 28th February 2026, Cardiff Music History CIC focused on preserving, cataloging, and celebrating the musical heritage of Cardiff for public benefit. Key activities during this period included: Archive Growth & Digitisation: Continued collecting, documenting, and cataloging physical and digital ephemera, including posters, flyers, press clippings, oral histories, and physical music releases, tracing Cardiff’s music culture over a period of 100 years. Exhibition Curation & Planning: Undertook extensive research, content development, translation, and logistical preparation for the major upcoming public exhibition, Resonant Places: Revisiting Cardiff’s Lost Music Venues (scheduled for September 2026). Partner & Stakeholder Engagement: Conducted ongoing collaborative discussions with regional cultural institutions, community partners, and local history groups to prepare accessible educational materials and a free bilingual exhibition magazine. Community Benefit: These activities preserve at-risk local social history, ensure subcultural heritage remains freely accessible to the public, and lay the groundwork for engaging, multigenerational community programming
Our Stakeholders: Cardiff Music History CIC engages with the local Cardiff community, regional music enthusiasts, researchers, scene veterans, musicians, venue operators, and regional cultural partners. How We Consulted: During this period, stakeholder engagement focused heavily on direct, participatory outreach to shape the upcoming Resonant Places exhibition. We conducted one-on-one consultations, recorded oral histories, and held discussions with local scene veterans, venue staff, musicians, and residents to gather first-hand memories, personal accounts, and private archive materials. Broad community outreach was also conducted via digital channels and public announcements. Actions Taken / Feedback: Rather than curating in isolation, the CIC ensured the exhibition content directly reflects the authentic lived experiences and words of the local community. Feedback highlighted a strong demand for physical print materials and fully accessible, bilingual historical narratives. In direct response, we prioritized securing professional Welsh translation services for all display content and designed a free magazine that will be distributed during the Resonant Places exhibition run towards the end of 2026.
