ROOTED WISDOM CIC

Company Number: 15510041 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 28 February 2026

Company activities and impact

During the period, Rooted Wisdom CIC delivered trauma-informed, culturally grounded therapeutic and educational work with young people, particularly those from Black and mixed-heritage backgrounds who are impacted by school exclusion, systemic disadvantage, and involvement with the criminal justice system. A core programme delivered was Rooted Resilience, a group-based intervention supporting young men in custody to explore trauma, identity, emotional regulation, behaviour, and self-worth using a psychodynamic and compassion-focused approach. Sessions provided a safe, non-judgemental space for reflection, emotional expression, and peer support. The company also delivered workshops and psychoeducational sessions in community and educational settings, focused on emotional resilience, mental health awareness, racial identity, and healthy coping strategies. Feedback collected from participants and professionals highlighted improved emotional awareness, increased motivation, better behaviour management, and a greater sense of being heard and valued. Many participants reported feeling more hopeful about their future and more able to manage their emotions and relationships. Through this work, Rooted Wisdom CIC has contributed to improved wellbeing, reduced isolation, increased emotional literacy, and greater confidence among young people facing complex social and psychological challenges.

Consultation with stakeholders

Stakeholders include the young people who participate in the programmes, their families, partner organisations such as prisons, schools and community services, and professionals working alongside the company. Informal consultation has taken place through feedback forms, session reflections, and discussions with participants and partner organisations. This feedback has been used to refine session content, pacing, and topics covered, including expanding focus on emotional regulation, identity, and future goals.
