Academy of Friends CIC organises community festivals and events, with a particular emphasis on bringing music, art, food and live entertainment to local residents. During the financial year ended 30 November 2025, the company's activities have benefited the community in the following ways: local residents have had access to live music, art and stage performances by musicians and comedians, bringing cultural and entertainment opportunities to the area that would otherwise require travel to larger towns or cities. Families and children have benefited from face painting, fun games and competitions, with medals awarded to winners, encouraging community participation and providing enjoyable, inclusive activities for younger residents. Local food and drink producers and traders have been given a platform to sell their products at the festivals and events, supporting small local businesses and increasing their exposure to new customers. Local musicians, comedians and performers have been given opportunities to showcase their talents and gain performance experience in front of a community audience. The events have brought residents of different ages and backgrounds together in a shared community setting, strengthening community cohesion and reducing social isolation. Footfall generated by the events has provided secondary benefit to nearby local shops, cafes and businesses in the area.
Academy of Friends CIC's stakeholders include local residents who attend its festivals and events, local food and drink producers, traders and performers who take part, and the volunteers who help organise and run the events. The company consults with these stakeholders informally throughout the year, gathering feedback directly from attendees, stallholders and performers during and after each event, as well as through informal conversations and social media. This feedback covers areas such as the range of activities on offer, the timing and organisation of events, and the overall visitor experience. In response to feedback received, the company has made adjustments to future events, including changes to the mix of entertainment and stalls on offer and improvements to the running and organisation of events, to ensure they continue to meet the needs and interests of the local community.
