ABOUT BRITS DESI SOC. The Brits Desi Society is a vibrant and inclusive organization dedicated to empowering the Brits Indian community. Established to preserve and promote the rich cultural heritage of India, the society serves as a hub for cultural celebration, social welfare, and community support. Our mission is to strengthen the bonds within the community by organizing events, programs, and initiatives that reflect our shared values and traditions. We aim to foster a sense of belonging while addressing the evolving needs of Brits Indians, ensuring a balance between honoring our heritage and embracing modern life in the UK. Through advocacy, cultural exchange, and collaborative projects, the Brits Desi Society works to create opportunities for growth, mutual understanding, and empowerment. By building a strong and united community, we strive to leave a lasting positive impact for current and future generations.

The purpose of the Brits Desi Society is to support and uplift the British & Indian community by promoting cultural heritage, social welfare, and mutual support. Through diverse community-building activities, targeted advocacy, and enriching programs, the society strives to preserve and celebrate Indian cultural values and traditions. The Society commemorated Sahibzaade Shaheedi Diwas on Feb 2025, with special guest Pujya Shri Swami Nalinanand Giri Ji Maharaj (USA). The programme honoured the sacrifices of the Sahibzaade while promoting interfaith understanding and respect. Grand Indoor Holi (Indian festival) Mela 2025; More than 300 people attended one of Leicester's largest indoor Holi celebrations. The event featured colourful celebrations, live cultural performances, music, family entertainment and traditional Indian cuisine, promoting multicultural harmony Working alongside the NHS, Brits Desi Society organised a mental health awareness seminar focused on supporting Asian communities, encouraging open discussions, reducing stigma and improving access to mental health services Brits Desi Society supported the High Commission of India in delivering consular services, helping members of the Indian community with passport, OCI and other official services. Women's Empowerment: Women from different nationalities and communities came together for a multicultural celebration featuring cultural performances, inspirational speakers and community networking, promoting women's leadership and inclusion. Diwali Celebration: A vibrant Diwali celebration featuring traditional performances, festive food, cultural entertainment and family activities, bringing together people from all backgrounds.
During its first year, Brits Desi Society CIC organised 15+ major community events and engaged thousands of residents. Worked with the NHS, the High Commission of India, faith organisations and community partners. Through these events, the community has developed a strong appreciation for our work, and we have also built positive, lasting relationships with community leaders. We engage with the community regularly and create opportunities for people from different backgrounds and communities to come together, connect, and share experiences. These activities help strengthen relationships, promote mutual understanding, encourage community participation, and build trust among community members and local leaders
