WINDRUSH GENERATIONS ‘Carnival of Cultures’ benefits the community by bringing people from diverse backgrounds together through arts, culture, education, and social activities. Our programme celebrated the rich heritage and contributions of the Windrush Generation and created opportunities for learning, participation, and community engagement for people of all ages and backgrounds. We provided culturally appropriate enrichment activities, creative workshops, performances, exhibitions, and educational events that increase access to the arts and encourage greater understanding of diverse cultures. Through these activities, we helped preserve cultural heritage, promoted inclusion, and strengthen relationships between different communities. Our work contributed by improving health and wellbeing by reducing social isolation, encouraged active participation, and created welcomed spaces where individuals connected, share experiences, and developed a sense of belonging. This was particularly important for the older people, disadvantaged groups, and those who otherwise had limited opportunities to engage in cultural activities. Our organisation also helped people develop new skills, confidence, and life opportunities through the volunteering, and creative arts participation, leadership opportunities, and our educational programme. These experiences supported personal development, raised aspirations, and encouraged active citizenship. By celebrating our diversity and by promoting cultural understanding, WINDRUSH GENERATIONS ‘Carnival of Cultures’ fostered a stronger, more vibrant community where people respected, valued, and learnt from one another. Our event and activities helped build community cohesion, challenged stereotypes, and promoted equality and inclusion. Ultimately, our work benefitted a wide and diverse audience by creating opportunities to learn about and celebrate our history, achievements, and lasting legacy of the Windrush Generation whilst using creativity, arts, and culture to inspire positive social change and it most certainly, strengthen our community for future generations.

Consultation was carried out through feedback forms, surveys, and informal conversations with attendees, volunteers, and partners, providing valuable insight into people's experiences of the Carnival. We also consulted with performers, community groups, and partner organisations to assess the Carnival's cultural impact and the effectiveness of collaborative working. Photographs, videos, social media engagement, and press coverage helped us capture the Carnival's reach, visibility, and public profile. In addition, our ongoing relationships with community partners, schools, cultural groups, and statutory services enabled us to monitor longer-term outcomes, including increased collaboration, sustained community engagement, and the development of year-round activities inspired by the Carnival.

No transfer of assets other than for full consideration
