During the financial year, the company organised and delivered “Beyond the Basics: Insight Into Law Reloaded”, an event attended by approximately 180 people. The event benefited the community in the following ways: - aspiring and early-career legal professionals from low socio-economic backgrounds were given access to practical career information and insight from established professionals across the legal and professional services sectors. - attendees were able to hear directly from speakers representing 2 Hare Court, No5 Chambers, Maitland Chambers, Clyde & Co, Ashurst, Kingsley Napley and Goldman Sachs. - attendees were able to ask questions and engage directly with experienced professionals about different career paths and opportunities. - the event provided an opportunity for attendees to develop professional relationships and networks which they may not otherwise have had access to. - the event sought to widen access to professional knowledge and networks within the legal and professional services sectors, particularly for individuals who may not have established professional connections.
The company's key stakeholders include aspiring and early-career lawyers, particularly those from low socio-economic backgrounds, as well as legal professionals, employers and organisations involved in supporting access to the legal profession. The company engages directly with its student community through a network of approximately 40 student ambassadors. The ambassadors are involved in planning and developing the company's events and provide input on the topics, speakers and format of activities based on the interests and needs of students. The company also engages with attendees through its events, providing opportunities for participants to ask questions, share their experiences and engage directly with speakers and other professionals. The input of student ambassadors and attendees informs the development of future events, including the focus on providing aspiring lawyers with access to professional networks, career information and opportunities that they may not otherwise have through their existing personal or family connections. The company intends to continue working with its student ambassadors and wider community to develop activities that address the needs of aspiring lawyers and promote greater access to the legal profession.
