The CIC runs skills transfer programmes for unemployed adults, particularly young people. We have achieved funding to run bootcamp training in all areas for Sussex, with contracts from West Sussex County Council, Brighton and Hove City Council and Lewes District Council in East Sussex. The courses transfer the skills needed for modern jobs: AI, Streaming, Content creation, Social media, all necessary to seek employment. The courses combine two aims: firstly to transfer the skills which we do in totally practical ways, with the learners making a feature which is then broadcast on Latest TV, a mainstream, OFCOM regulated channel. Secondly we incorporate REAL work experience with the students working in the TV studio, creating news and local community pieces, again which are broadcast on the TV. We work very closely with the DWP, who refer the unemployed to our short courses. We run information sessions, brief the work coaches and hold specialist sign up days for potential applicants. We work closely now with the Job Centres in Brighton and Hove Worthing and Littlehampton Haywards Heath and Horsham Lewes Eastbourne Hastings We attend Jobs Fairs and recruitment days run by the DWP and the local councils. We have achieved over 90% success rate in meeting the outcomes set by the Government for the programmes and have helped over 100 adults. Also, we continue to support grassroots community groups to become more resilient, giving them profile on the TV and helping them with more effective communication strategies, using websites and social media. We have continued the series of 14 programmes, showing community activities, which have been widely used to increase fundraising, recruit volunteers and show senior community leaders what really happens on the ground. The series has been widely praised by all and is now available to all groups to use to help their own communications. We invited 10 community organisations to be interviewed and screened on the TV creating greater awareness of their work, We continue to work with The Regeneration Team at Lewes Council to create positive features to counter the neglect and bad reputation, restoring a sense of civic pride and duty. We have run many cultural events that are inclusive and diverse giving opportunity to groups that do not have a platform and usually denied access to the world of television and modern digital skills. We ran Ukraine Music and Film Festivals, giving welcome and opportunities to Ukrainian refugees. We have helped create a new CIC, Ukrainian Arts CIC, so the refugees can become self-sufficient in creating their own opportunities We continue to mentor selected refugees. We have created opportunity to spread the Film Festival across the UK including repeat screenings in Shoreham, Lewes and Cardiff. We continue to run Community events on Brighton Palace Pier, giving opportunity to local musicians and bands who are having trouble in finding performance opportunities as many music venues are closing. We have completed films on Gas, the uplifting opera about genocides, set in Auschwitz, Syria, Ukraine, to great critical acclaim, Daghani, the mostly untold life of Arnold Daghani, a very important and unique Holocaust chronicler who survived the concentration camp and died later in Brighton, and Doris Levinson, the founder of Holocaust Memorial Day, awarded the BEM for her tireless activities for the Jewish communities as well as multi faith co-ordination services bringing all together. We filmed the first Refugee Awards Ceremony and televised. We are working closely with Peacehaven Mosque to bring Jewish, Muslim and Christian Communities together. These films have been shown at The BNJC, Peacehaven Mosque, St Georges Community Centre, The Ben Uri Gallery in London with discussions taking place to screen in mainstream cinemas. Film Pride ran successfully in association with Brighton Pride, attracting many audience members at the Pride Venue and also staged at St Georges Church Community Centre to audiences of more than 100, then watched by thousands on television. We ran festivals for the black and ethnic minority communities. We again ran the Holocaust Memorial Day commemoration for Brighton and Hove Council. Latest’s own music composed by Bill Smith and Angi Mariani was again used at The Northern Ireland commemorations at Stormont, the seat of Northern Ireland’s Government. We continue to focus our activities on our nearest communities to the CIC which are: East Brighton, these communities are largely young and deprived, often in poverty and often poor education. Kemptown. This is primarily the LGBTQ+ area of Brighton and known as The Gay Village. For each project, ongoing consultation and discussions are held with all stakeholders. These discussions inform the progress of the project with lessons learnt and stakeholder views implemented.
