A significant focus of the company's work was education and skills development. Through structured workshops and hands-on production experiences, the company supported young people and early-career musicians to develop creative, technical and transferable skills. These educational activities increased confidence, employability and creative engagement, particularly for individuals who may not otherwise have access to music education or industry pathways. The company's activities delivered clear community benefit by: Providing inclusive, affordable and free cultural events for local residents Creating progression routes for young musicians and creatives Supporting local artists, freelancers and small businesses Encouraging community participation, collaboration and pride in place Using music as a tool for learning, wellbeing and social connection All activity was delivered in line with the company's community interest objectives, reinvesting surplus income back into cultural programming, education and opportunities for local people. The company's work during the year contributed positively to the cultural, social and educational life of the communities it serves and demonstrated the value of grassroots music as a driver for community development and creative growth.
Stakeholder consultation took place on an ongoing and primarily informal basis throughout the financial year, reflecting the community-led nature of the company's activities. Consultation methods included planning meetings, in-person discussions at events and workshops, collaborative project development, and regular communication with partner organisations. Consultation with Burton and South Derbyshire College focused on the development and delivery of educational and skills-based activity, including workshops, mentoring and progression routes for young people. Feedback from the college informed the structure, accessibility and practical focus of the company's educational programmes. Consultation with East Staffordshire Borough Council took place through project planning, reporting and delivery discussions. Feedback from the council informed event operations, safeguarding, accessibility, community engagement and alignment with local cultural and youth development priorities. Consultation with the Burton Caribbean Association supported the inclusive and community-focused development of programming, ensuring activities reflected local cultural diversity and encouraged participation from underrepresented communities. Feedback from the association informed community engagement approaches and collaborative event delivery. In addition, artists, young people and audiences were consulted through workshops, post-event discussions and informal feedback. This feedback influenced programming decisions, accessibility measures, and the expansion of educational and participatory activity. As a result of stakeholder consultation, the company: Developed and refined educational and skills-based programmes Improved accessibility and inclusivity across events and workshops Strengthened partnerships with education, community and local authority stakeholders Increased opportunities for local artists and young people Ensured activity remained aligned with local community needs and priorities The company views stakeholder consultation as an ongoing process and continues to use feedback to shape its activities in line with its community interest objectives
