During the last year I have been able to support a further 50 companies to complete their B Impact Assessment. To measure and improve their social and environmental impact as part of their B Corp journey. These have ranged from small start-ups to larger companies.
During the last year, I have been able to volunteer with a local youth work team, provided elder care and also volunteered with Mentor Me, supporting ex-prisoners to improve their lives. I also run a volunteer group for Cantonese residents recently arrived from Hong Kong. In total I was able to contribute more than 279 hours of volunteer work.
Overseas I have continued to financially support a project in South Africa which provides healthcare advice in the community and life skills mentoring using sport to a group of girls in a township just outside of Cape Town through Mama Sindi and Phambili Community Development.
Charity giving for the year was £4,386, which is just over 3% of turnover. When taking volunteer time into account this would be closer to 10% of turnover.
Environmentally, Business On Purpose continues to be Carbon Neutral. This has been achieved by continuing with an electric vehicle, using an an energy efficient building utilising solar power, and using carbon offsetting including 10 tons of CO2 which was offset, with a further 250 trees planted. Additionally, I own a dedicated green acre of land filled with indigenous trees and plants.
The plan for the next year is to scale up the number of clients supported through the B Corp Certification process and increase the amount of social and environmental impact both directly and indirectly.
I would like to sincerely thank my clients and the B Corp team who have supported me over the last year and look forward to encouraging them further in future on their own social and environmental impact journey.
