The company’s purpose is to promote health, wellbeing and enjoyment of the beach and sea through non-powered water sports activities, including sailing, kite surfing, paddle boarding and swimming, and to be a community hub for participants in all of these activities. The company has benefited the community by providing an inclusive and welcoming club based environment for all of the activities mentioned above. We encompass stakeholders that provide kite surfing and paddle boarding lessons and then a centre from which these and the other activities mentioned above can be enjoyed. Through our club we provide a safe and welcoming place that local people and visitors can enjoy refreshments, showers, toilet facilities and also benefit from the wellbeing events we regularly hold. Over the past year we have continued to increase the membership of the CIC from 2000 to 2300, a clear indication of the positive effect we are having in the local community. The CIC has continued to increase turnover and to generate surplus income over expenditure, which has almost entirely been re-invested into improving facilities for Wallasey Beach Club members and the local community.
The stakeholders of the company are the members of Wallasey Beach CIC, all of whom become 1GBP Guarantors. Currently two service providers, Northern Kites and Shaka SUP, who provide kitesurfing and paddle boarding lessons are also stakeholders as is West Cheshire Sailing Club, the members of which have been amalgamated into the company. Consultation with the stakeholders is carried out via our corporate structure which includes nominated representatives of the members from each stakeholder group. The members of the CIC can request an Extraordinary General Meeting at any time if sufficient members petition for it, as set out in the company’s articles of incorporation. During the year the Directors have continued to invest surplus revenue in improving the structure of the club premises, such as vital repairs to the building, and refurbishment of the bar and cafe area. Funds have also been allocated for the purchase of a new rescue boat for the use of all watersports groups, although the actual purchase will fall into the next accounting year.
Directors’ fees amounting to £3,500 each were paid to each of the Executive Directors, Adam Crouch, Adrian Pattinson and Helen Rushton as voted by the Remuneration Committee comprised of the non-executive directors and CIC Members
