The company ran Seaside Arts Space, a not-for-profit community-run enterprise selling locally handmade arts and crafts, from February 2024 to June 2026. How the shop benefited the community: - local artists had a permanent space to display their work for sale. This helped artists to promote their work and to meet other artists. - customers could buy quality handmade arts and crafts, giving them an alternative to online and factory shop products. - we boosted the local economy by encouraging footfall to the town centre and playing a role in community events where we can showcase our makers - from April to August 2025 we ran free workshops in external resource centres. These included fossil hunts, learning to crochet, make suncatchers, stone painting and more. - Retired people and people on benefits became involved with the shop by offering their time to 'shop sit'. This helped with social inclusion and community belonging. In June 2026 Seaside Arts Space handed over the running of the shop to Withernsea Makers ABC. Seaside Arts Space now runs Seaside Fossils, independent of the shop.
