Trustees' Report
The trustees present their report and the financial statements for the year ended 31 December 2025.
Objectives and Activities
Aims and Objectives
The object and aim of the Charity is to advance the physical education and development of children attending schools and resident in the Portsmouth area and surrounding Counties by the provision of facilities and instruction in gymnastics.
Public Benefit
PSG is a specialized gymnastics facility for all children regardless of age, gender or ethnicity. All Trustees are required and sign that they have considered their responsibilities, by awareness of the published guidance on the public benefit requirement under the Charities Act 2011.
The trustees confirm that they have complied with the requirements of Section 17 of the Charities Act 2011 to have due regard to the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit.
Financial Review
Reserves Policy
The reserve funds have improved on 2024 to £36K although this has improved in 2026 currently at 43K as members have increased again and there has been a small increase in fees. All such funding has been earmarked for use on new state of the art TeamGym equipment, leasehold improvements, and general repairs in the new facility.
Future Plans
Leasehold improvements and repairs continue to be a significant cost. PSG currently have an 8-year lease, and we will be negotiating an increase to 15 years but this hinges on our landlords' plans, particularly their development of a large site adjacent to their main offices. We have been advised a review of the lease will be discussed at our next catch-up meeting with the Landlord in July 2026

Independent Examiner's Report to the Trustees of Portsmouth School Of Gymnastics
I report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of the Company for the year ended 31 December 2025.
Responsibilities and Basis of Report
As the charity trustees of the Company (and also its directors for the purposes of company law), you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Companies Act 2006 (“the 2006 Act”).
Having satisfied myself that the accounts of the Company are not required to be audited under Part 16 of the 2006 Act and are eligible for independent examination, I report in respect of my examination of your charity’s accounts as carried out under section 145 of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the 2011 Act’). In carrying out my examination I have followed the Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5) (b) of the 2011 Act.
Independent Examiner's Statement
Since the Company’s gross income exceeded £250,000 your examiner must be a member of a body listed in section 145 of the 2011 Act. I confirm that I am qualified to undertake the examination because I am a member of The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, which is one of the listed bodies.
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe:
  1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the Company as required by section 386 of the 2006 Act; or
  2. the accounts do not accord with those records; or
  3. the accounts do not comply with the accounting requirements of section 396 of the 2006 Act other than any requirement that the accounts give a 'true and fair view' which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination; or
  4. the accounts have not been prepared in accordance with the methods and principles of the Statement of Recommended Practice for accounting and reporting by charities applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102).
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

Notes to the Financial Statements
1. General Information
Portsmouth School Of Gymnastics is a company limited by guarantee, incorporated in England & Wales, registered number 03174880 and registered charity number 1055462 . The registered office is 50 Catisfield Road, Milton, Portsmouth, Hampshire, PO4 8NJ.
2. Accounting Policies
2.1. Basis of Preparation of Financial Statements
The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the Charities SORP (FRS 102) "Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2019)", Financial Reporting Standard 102 "The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland" and the Companies Act 2006.
The charitable company is a Public Benefit Entity as defined by FRS 102.
2.2. Incoming Resources
Income is included in the Statement of Financial Activities (SoFA) when the charity becomes entitled to, and virtually certain to receive, the income and the amount of income can be measured with sufficient reliability.
2.3. Resources Expended
Expenditure is recognised on an accrual basis.  Expenditure includes an VAT which cannot be fully recovered, and is reported as part of the expenditure to which it relates.
2.4. Tangible Fixed Assets and Depreciation
Tangible fixed assets are measured at cost less accumulated depreciation and any accumulated impairment losses. Depreciation is provided at rates calculated to write off the cost of the fixed assets, less their estimated residual value, over their expected useful lives on the following bases:
Leasehold Over the term of the lease
Plant & Machinery 10% Straight Line
Fixtures & Fittings 10% Straight Line
Computer Equipment 25% Reducing Balance
2.5. Leasing and Hire Purchase Contracts
Assets obtained under finance leases are capitalised as tangible fixed assets. Assets acquired under finance leases are depreciated over the shorter of the lease term and their useful lives. Assets acquired under hire purchase contracts are depreciated over their useful lives. Finance leases are those where substantially all of the benefits and risks of ownership are assumed by the charitable company. Obligations under such agreements are included in the creditors net of the finance charge allocated to future periods. The finance element of the rental payment is charged to the statement of financial activities so as to produce a constant periodic rate of charge on the net obligation outstanding in each period.
Rentals applicable to operating leases where substantially all of the benefits and risks of ownership remain with the lessor are charged to the statement of financial activities as incurred.
