3
Accounting policies
These financial statements for the year ended 30 November 2025 are the first financial statements that comply with FRS 102 Section 1A Small Entities. The date of transition is 13 November 2023. The transition to FRS 102 Section 1A Small Entities has resulted in a small number of changes in accounting policies to those used previously. The nature of these changes and their impact on opening equity and profit for the comparative period are explained in note 9 below.
Basis of preparation
The accounts have been prepared under the historical cost convention as modified by the revaluation of certain fixed assets.
Presentation currency
The accounts are presented in £ sterling.
Prior period error: VAT on business rates recharges
In previous periods the company treated amounts recharged to clients in respect of business rates as outside the scope of VAT. Following advice from two independent VAT advisers, the directors have concluded that, because the company is the named tenant and ratepayer, these recharges form part of a single standard-rated supply and should have carried VAT at 20%. The error has been corrected in these financial statements. Output VAT of £226,419.90 in respect of supplies made up to 30 November 2025 has been recognised as a liability to HM Revenue & Customs, of which £220,573.26 relates to the year ended 30 November 2025 and £5,846.64 to earlier supplies. Correction invoices have been raised to the affected clients, and the corresponding amounts, which the directors consider recoverable, are recognised within debtors. An Error Correction Notification was submitted to HM Revenue & Customs on 9 June 2026 and a Time to Pay arrangement has been agreed. Late payment interest is payable on the outstanding VAT and has been accrued to the balance sheet date. No penalty had been determined at the date of approval of these financial statements.
Revenue recognition (accounting policy)
The company acts as principal in the provision of property occupation and related business rates management services. Amounts recharged to clients in respect of business rates are recognised within turnover, with the corresponding amounts payable to billing authorities recognised within cost of sales, because the company is the named ratepayer and bears the primary obligation to the billing authority. Turnover is stated net of value added tax.
Tangible fixed assets and depreciation
Tangible assets are included at cost less depreciation and impairment. Depreciation has been provided at the following rates in order to write off the assets over their estimated useful lives:

Reconciliations on adoption of FRS 102
These are the first financial statements the company has prepared under FRS 102 Section 1A. The financial statements for the year ended 30 November 2024 were prepared under FRS 105. The date of transition to FRS 102 is 13 November 2023, being the beginning of the earliest period presented. The company has corrected a prior period error in respect of output VAT that should have been charged on business rates recharges, as described in the accounting policies above. Output VAT of £226,419.90 in respect of supplies made up to 30 November 2025 has been recognised as a liability to HM Revenue & Customs, of which £220,573.26 relates to the year ended 30 November 2025 and £5,846.64 to earlier supplies. A corresponding amount has been recognised within debtors to the extent the VAT is considered recoverable from clients. As the amounts recoverable are equal to the liability recognised, there is no net effect on retained earnings brought forward. The £5,846.64 relating to earlier supplies is not material; the comparative figures have not been restated and it has been recognised in the current period.
