Directors' report period ended
The directors present their report with the financial statements of the company for the period ended 30 June 2026
Principal activities of the company
Additional information
During the year turnover was £138,781, compared with £99,937 in 2025. The company recorded a profit before taxation of £25,844, compared with a loss in the previous year. It repaid £21,024 of individual loans during the year, while net liabilities reduced from £23,775 at 30 June 2025 to £12,518. Cash at bank at the year end was £12,638. In addition to the director, the company engaged contractors and specialist consultants during the year at a cost of £47,422. Work undertaken through those engagements was commissioned by the company, and the resulting research, datasets and methodologies are owned by the company. During the year, the company maintained and expanded the evidence base developed through Silent Influence, first published in June 2025, which analysed the public disclosures of 8,500 listed companies. In May 2026, it also published a source-linked briefing and network map examining the multi-state campaign directed at the two principal proxy advisers, and undertook commissioned research for a public interest legal organisation. Turnover during the year was derived from two clients. This concentration of income remains the company's principal commercial risk, and the company is working to broaden its base of commissioned work and grant funding. The company also remains dependent on the director and a small number of contractors. The accounts for the year ended 30 June 2025 were filed late, and the registrar commenced action to strike the company from the register on 26 May 2026. The accounts were filed on 27 May 2026 and the action was discontinued on 30 May 2026. A filing calendar has since been put in place, and these accounts are being filed well ahead of their due date of 31 March 2027. The director has assessed the company's financial position and expected activity for the foreseeable future, taking into account the profit for the year, cash held at the year end and concentration of income. The director considers the company to have sufficient resources to continue its activities and, accordingly, the accounts have been prepared on a going concern basis.

The company researches how companies, trade associations and other organisations seek to influence public policy, particularly on climate change, biodiversity and related systemic risks. It gathers information from public records, structures and analyses that information, and publishes research, evidence and methodologies so that civil society organisations, investors, researchers, journalists and the wider public can examine corporate influence on policy. Much of the evidence relevant to corporate lobbying is public in principle but difficult to use in practice. Consultation responses, lobbying registers, trade association memberships and corporate disclosures are spread across different sources and jurisdictions and are often difficult to compare. The company’s work is intended to make that evidence more accessible, traceable and capable of independent scrutiny. During the year ended 30 June 2026, the company: * maintained and expanded the evidence base developed through **Silent Influence**, its research covering the climate lobbying disclosures and governance of 8,500 publicly listed companies; * operated a public index allowing users to examine company governance of climate lobbying, including board oversight, accountability, trade association review and disclosure; * maintained a public map of corporate membership of trade associations, linking membership information back to the underlying public sources; * published its methodology for assessing corporate climate lobbying, setting out the criteria used to reach its findings; * published research in May 2026 into coordinated pressure on the two principal shareholder stewardship and proxy advisory services, together with a source-linked network map showing the organisations and relationships identified from court records, legislation and other primary documents; * continued to develop methods for analysing lobbying and policy positions in areas including climate change, biodiversity, financial stability, public health, antimicrobial resistance, artificial intelligence governance and information integrity; and * published research reports, methodologies and explanatory material through its website so that its findings and methods could be examined and challenged. The principal community benefit arising from these activities is improved access to evidence about how organisations seek to influence public policy. By bringing fragmented public information together and showing the evidence behind its findings, the company enables users to scrutinise corporate and trade association activity that would otherwise require substantial time and specialist knowledge to identify. The company made its core research and methodologies publicly available without charge during the financial year.
The company's stakeholders include civil society and public interest organisations, asset owners and asset managers, academic researchers, users of the company's research and datasets, and the companies and trade associations covered by its work. The wider public is also a beneficiary of the company's published research. During the year the company met with asset managers, environmental law and advocacy organisations, a business membership organisation and academic researchers to discuss its research, methods, data and how the work could be used. It presented its trade association mapping to an asset manager and shared prototype data for comment. It agreed to share data with a university for academic research and took part in a civil society forum on stewardship and asset manager engagement. The company also contacted four public lobbying registries about the completeness and structure of the information they publish. The company did not run a formal public consultation during the year and did not consult members of the general public directly. Its engagement with the wider public was principally through publishing its research and methodologies. The clearest outcomes from stakeholder engagement during the year were the sharing of prototype data for external review, an agreement to make data available for academic research, and enquiries to public lobbying registries about their data. The company does not maintain a formal consultation register and does not claim that particular changes were made in response to feedback where there is no record showing that this was the case.
The total amount paid or receivable by the director in respect of qualifying services was £36,275.10. There were no other transactions or arrangements in connection with the remuneration of the director, or compensation for loss of office, which require to be disclosed.
No transfer of assets other than for full consideration
