This year aScEND have provided over 100 arts and craft and social group sessions for adults with SEND. The company has also held 10 children's sessions. in November 2025 the company moved into a new community centre and has since opened a community cafe serving affordable food to the local community and the service users of ascend. The centre has also enabled us to be able to provide an affordable hire space for other charities in the city, inclusive hire for birthday parties, celebrations of life and many other events. The company is focussed on bringing the local community together in an affordable and inclusive environment.
When we are planning sessions we ensure that we are speaking to the stakeholders who use our sessions weekly. We encourage them to tell us the things that they would like to do and have had suggestions such as pottery, jewellery making, games sessions and bingo. We have actioned these and have also invited other outside creatives to come in provide sessions. we also held a first aid course for parents, carers, staff and volunteers as this was something we were asked to do.
