During the financial year, Good Botanics continued to deliver community-focused activities that connect people with plants, nature and traditional knowledge, with a particular emphasis on improving access to wellbeing through community participation. A key part of this work has been the Mobile Apothecary, a community herbal project providing free and accessible opportunities for people to learn about medicinal plants, herbs and everyday approaches to wellbeing. Through workshops, community events and the preparation and sharing of herbal remedies, the Mobile Apothecary creates spaces for people to develop practical knowledge, connect with others and build a closer relationship with the natural environment. The project is designed to reduce barriers to participation by bringing activities directly into community settings and making knowledge and resources available to people who may not otherwise have access to them. It also provides opportunities for volunteers and participants to share knowledge and experience, strengthening community connections and encouraging greater confidence in engaging with plants and nature. Alongside the direct benefits to participants, the Mobile Apothecary contributes to wider community resilience by keeping traditional plant knowledge alive and encouraging people to consider the relationship between environmental health, personal wellbeing and local communities. Through these activities, Good Botanics has continued to use plants, herbal knowledge and community participation as practical tools for education, connection and wellbeing, creating social and environmental benefits within the communities it serves.
Good Botanics engages with stakeholders through ongoing conversations and informal consultation with community members, participants, volunteers, partner organisations and practitioners involved in its activities. Feedback is gathered through workshops, events and day-to-day engagement with participants, and is used to inform the development and delivery of projects. Particular attention is given to ensuring that the Mobile Apothecary responds to the interests and needs of the communities it works with. Stakeholder feedback helps shape the subjects covered, activities offered and ways in which the project is delivered and made accessible to participants.
