Company activities and impact

The Cheveley Community Group CIC ran events and activities open to all members of the community. These included a book club, bingo evenings, local history exhibition and talk, Wecare cafe, afternoon teas and farmers markets. The money from events such as the farmers markets that generated a surplus, were used to subsidise events, such as the afternoon teas and presents for children at the Christmas farmers market, that required funding. The surplus from a bingo evening (£150) was donated to the local brownies and guides group. We gave a donation (£150) to Detour6, a local group supporting children with special needs. The WeCare Cafe meets monthly and is open to everyone to come and bring items that need repairing, so we can save them being thrown away if possible. Refreshments are provided. The group is able to run because of the volunteers and the support of the community.

Consultation with stakeholders

We regularly discuss our proposed activities with local church group and the Parish Council. We liaise with these groups to ensure events do not clash. We hold a joint event with the church group in September, the Scarecrow Farmers Market followed by church tower tours and a barbecue at the Church.
