COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

CREATIVE CONNEX CIC

Company Number: 14459040 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 30 November 2025

Company activities and impact

Creative Connex CIC is a community interest company dedicated to empowering underrepresented communities by providing access to creative resources, digital expertise, and heritage platforms. Our core mission is to create a more equitable, connected community by amplifying the stories and lived experiences of underrepresented groups across Bristol and the West of England Combined Authority (WECA) region. Building on our established transition into a community-focused digital agency, this reporting period saw Creative Connex CIC consolidate its focus into a unified, high-impact suite of cultural and community projects centred on the flagship First Born Second (FBS): Children of the Windrush Era programme. First Born Second Children of the Windrush Era Heritage & Creative Programme: Delivering Year 1 of a three-year major project with investment from Arts Council England and Creative Connex Ltd. The project documents the first generation born Black and British to Caribbean parents. Key deliverables in Year 1 included: film production, production and advertising for writers for a book anthology, community events, partnerships, community film screenings, digital media marketing, website upgrade and revamp, planning, and a genealogy project called Finding Your Roots Bristol. Elder Welfare & Intergenerational Engagement: In partnership with Alive Activities and community groups, we spearheaded campaigns supporting Caribbean elders' lunch clubs and intergenerational dialogues. Civic Advocacy & Environmental Justice: Maintained active partnerships with community advocacy networks, including incubating the Black Seeds Environmental Social Justice Network, amplifying local perspectives on heritage, civic equality, and climate action.

Consultation with stakeholders

During this reporting period, Creative Connex CIC consulted with key stakeholders working in partnership, including Caribbean elders' networks, community project partners (such as Alive Activities), university bodies (UWE Bristol), local creative freelancers, and regional arts organisations. Feedback highlighted the importance of streamlining operational delivery to maximise community benefit. In response, Creative Connex CIC successfully focused its capacity on a cohesive, single-programme portfolio (First Born Second) rather than multiple dispersed micro-projects. This structural alignment protected organisational bandwidth, enhanced project delivery quality, and directly served stakeholder needs around elder isolation, youth mentorship, and cultural preservation. We also maintained the clear operational boundary between Creative Connex Consultancy Ltd and the CIC to ensure complete transparency in delivering our community-interest goals.
