Healthcare Project and Change Association (HPCA) exists to advance education and improve the capability of people leading projects, programmes, change and transformation across health and care for the benefit of patients, staff and communities. During the year the company expanded its reach across the NHS and wider health and care sector, delivering education, professional development, networking and practical improvement support. Key community benefit activities included delivery of national and regional development programmes for NHS organisations, integrated care systems, arm's length bodies and charities; specialist masterclasses, webinars and workshops; communities of practice; coaching and mentoring; and freely accessible guidance, tools and professional resources. HPCA continued to champion the development of project delivery, change management and improvement capability as an enabler of better health and care outcomes. During the year HPCA designed and delivered programmes covering project and programme management, organisational change, stakeholder engagement, neuroscience for leading change, digital adoption, AI, leadership, benefits management and strategic relationship management. These programmes supported clinical and non-clinical staff, helping participants build confidence, improve collaboration and increase the likelihood of successful change initiatives. HPCA continued to convene cross-organisational communities, enabling members from NHS trusts, integrated care systems, primary care, social care, charities and partner organisations to share learning, good practice and innovation. New specialist communities and interest groups, including work on Ambient Voice Technology, strengthened collaboration around emerging priorities for health and care. The organisation worked collaboratively with national partners including NHS England programmes, Health Research Authority, Healthcare Financial Management Association, Healthcare Supplies Association, Science Museum Group and other public sector organisations to improve capability and promote professional standards. Income generated through commercial training and consultancy was reinvested into delivering the company's community interest purpose, including development of new learning resources, expansion of free webinars, community events, online resources, partnerships and professional networks. Financial performance strengthened during the year, with turnover increasing to £237,571 and reserves increasing to £79,938, providing greater sustainability for future community benefit activities while remaining focused on public benefit rather than private gain. The overall impact of HPCA's work has been to strengthen the capability of individuals and organisations responsible for delivering complex improvement programmes, supporting more effective leadership, collaboration and delivery across the health and care system, ultimately contributing to improved services and better outcomes for patients and communities.
Stakeholders include NHS organisations, members, learners, commissioners, trainers, partner organisations, professional bodies, volunteers and the wider health and care community. Consultation takes place continuously through course evaluations, member surveys, community discussions, steering groups, advisory groups, client review meetings, webinars and direct engagement with members and partners. Feedback has directly informed the development of new training programmes, Communities of Practice, the Ambient Voice Technology Special Interest Group, digital adoption resources, AI-related learning, improvements to accessibility, online resources and the prioritisation of topics reflecting current NHS challenges. This collaborative approach ensures HPCA remains responsive to community needs and delivers activities with demonstrable public benefit.
