Notes to the Financial Statements
for the Year Ended 31 March 2026
| 1. | STATUTORY INFORMATION |
Harry Needle Railroad Company Ltd is a
In the prior year, the company has changed its accounting reference date from 28 February to 31 March. As a result, the comparative period was prepared for a one-month period from 1 March 2025 to 31 March 2025. The current period covered the 12 months ended 31 March 2026.
This change was made to align the company's financial reporting period with that of its new parent undertaking, following its acquisition by Swietelsky AG on 20 December 2024.
Due to the shortened reporting period, the financial performance and position for the one-month period are not directly comparable with those of the current 12-month period.
The financial statements are prepared in Pound Sterling (£), which is considered to be the functional currency of the company. Monetary amounts in these financial statements are rounded to the nearest £.
These financial statements present information about the Company as an individual undertaking.
| 2. | ACCOUNTING POLICIES |
Basis of preparing the financial statements
Going concern
The financial statements are prepared on the going concern basis of accounting as, in the opinion of the directors, there are no matters of material uncertainty which cast doubt on the company's ability to continue.
Related party exemption
The company has taken advantage of exemption, under the terms of Financial Reporting Standard 102 'The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland', not to disclose related party transactions with wholly owned subsidiaries within the group.
Turnover
Turnover represents net sales of goods and services, excluding value added tax and discounts offered. Income is recognised when the company becomes entitled to the income, it can be measured reliably and it is probable that the economic benefits associated with the transaction will flow to the entity.
Revenue is recognised in the income statement on a straight line basis over the period of the hire.
Revenue arising from services provided is recognised in the income statement when the service is performed.
Revenue arising from storage income is recognised in the income statement in the period in which it is earned.
Goodwill
Intangible assets
Intangible assets are initially measured at cost. After initial recognition, intangible assets are measured at cost less any accumulated amortisation and any accumulated impairment losses.

Cash and cash equivalents comprise cash at bank and on hand, demand deposits with banks and other short-term highly liquid investments with original maturities of three months or less and bank overdrafts. A bank overdraft would be shown within current liabilities.
Trade and other debtors are initially recognised at fair value and subsequently measured at amortised cost using the effective interest method, less losses for bad debts except where the effect of discounting would be immaterial. In such cases, trade and other debtors are stated at cost less losses for bad debts.
Trade and other creditors are initially recognised at fair value and subsequently measured at amortised cost using the effective interest rate unless the effect of discounting would be immaterial. In such cases, trade and other creditors are stated at cost.
Taxation
Taxation for the year comprises current and deferred tax. Tax is recognised in the Income Statement, except to the extent that it relates to items recognised in other comprehensive income or directly in equity.
Current or deferred taxation assets and liabilities are not discounted.
Current tax is recognised at the amount of tax payable using the tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the balance sheet date.
Deferred tax
Deferred tax is recognised in respect of all timing differences that have originated but not reversed at the balance sheet date.
Timing differences arise from the inclusion of income and expenses in tax assessments in periods different from those in which they are recognised in financial statements. Deferred tax is measured using tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the year end and that are expected to apply to the reversal of the timing difference.
Unrelieved tax losses and other deferred tax assets are recognised only to the extent that it is probable that they will be recovered against the reversal of deferred tax liabilities or other future taxable profits.

Operating leases
Rentals paid under operating leases are charged to the statement of comprehensive income on a straight line basis over the period of the lease.
Provisions for liabilities
A provision is initially recognised when there is an obligation at the balance sheet date as the result of a past event, it is probable that there will be the transfer of funds in settlement and the amount of the obligation can be estimated reliably. The provision is subsequently measured by placing a charge against the provision only for expenditure for which the provision was originally recognised.

| 13. | DISCLOSURE UNDER SECTION 444(5B) OF THE COMPANIES ACT 2006 |
The Report of the Auditors was qualified on the following basis:
Basis for qualified opinion
Harry Needle Railroad Company Ltd's stock was carried forward with a value of £120,022 on the balance sheet as at 31 March 2025. The audit report for the year to 31 March 2025 was qualified due to being unable to obtain sufficient audit evidence about the carrying amount of stock at the balance sheet date. Stocktake attendance being deemed impractical due to the absence of adequate and reliable stock records which could be tested appropriately at a physical stock count at or near the period-end. We were unable to satisfy ourselves by alternative means concerning the existence and valuation of stock held at 31 March 2025. Consequently we were unable to determine whether any adjustments to these amounts were necessary.
As with the year ended 31 March 2025, insufficient audit evidence was obtained to satisfy ourselves with the stock value of £120,022 brought forward and remaining on the balance sheet to 31 March 2026. The remaining £205,190 stock as at 31 March 2026 was satisfactorily evidenced.
We have conducted our audit in accordance with International Standards on Auditing (UK) (ISAs (UK)) and applicable law. Our responsibilities under those standards are further described in the Auditors' responsibilities for the audit of the financial statements section of our report. We are independent of the company in accordance with the ethical requirements that are relevant to our audit of the financial statements in the UK, including the FRC's Ethical Standard, and we have fulfilled our other ethical responsibilities in accordance with these requirements. We believe that the audit evidence we have obtained is sufficient and appropriate to provide a basis for our opinion.
