Principal activities of the company

Honeybee Farmacy CIC is a small agroecological social enterprise working in a network of ecological gardens across Rushcliffe, South Nottinghamshire. We are advocates for agroecology, and have been working with local schools, communities, councils, and aligned organisations on food growing and seed stewardship projects since 2018. During this year we began developing a small-scale plant nursery supported by grant funding from Rushcliffe Borough Council through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, which will help diversify our income and sustain our community work.

  • 1. Accounting policies

    Basis of measurement and preparation

    These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Turnover policy

    Turnover is income from garden and environmental education work we deliver, counted when the work is done, together with grant income. Our grant from Rushcliffe Borough Council under the UK Shared Prosperity Fund is restricted to our plant nursery project and is not included in general funds. The grant covers 40% of project costs. We spent £1,548 on the project in the year, so £619 of grant income has been counted. £230 of that had not yet been paid to us at 30 November 2025 and is shown in debtors. No unspent grant was held at the year end. The company had set aside £1,055 of its own reserves towards its share of the remaining project costs.

Company activities and impact

In Year 7 we continued to deliver agroecological growing projects with schools and community groups in Nottingham and Rushcliffe. Cropwell Community Garden completed its second full growing season. The garden is maintained as a shared space for residents in Cropwell Butler, Cropwell Bishop and surrounding areas. Volunteer sessions were held throughout the year, alongside continued involvement from local Scouts and community groups. Produce grown was distributed to the volunteers, local residents and village pub. We held two open day events and worked with Good Grief Dear CIC to host a Grief Cafe at the garden. We also delivered a presentation to Cropwell Bishop Growers and Gardeners and subsequently welcomed the group to the garden for no-dig growing demonstrations. This project has reached approx. 125 people over the year. Our Edible Classrooms programme delivered school gardening provision throughout the year. We worked with Cropwell Bishop Primary School delivering a programme of horticultural and environmental education, and continued our established partnership with St Edmund Campion Catholic Primary. We finished the build of a new garden within the Redhill Academy Trust. Delivery reached approx. 670 children over the year, whilst the garden sites we have developed across 4 schools are accessible to over 1500 school children. A significant strand of work this year was biodiversity provision within school grounds. We installed nest boxes, wildlife habitats and pollinator planting, alongside new food growing areas.

Consultation with stakeholders

Our stakeholders are residents of Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, local authorities, community and environment groups, and education providers, predominantly in the Rushcliffe district. At Cropwell Community Garden we consult directly with the people using the site. Volunteers shape what the garden grows and how the space develops through conversations, and our open days gave wider village residents the chance to tell us what they want from it. Working with Good Grief Dear CIC helped us to shape how the space can support other activities as well as growing. In our school partnerships we consult teachers and school staff throughout delivery, planning each garden around what the school wants the space to do and adapting our programme in response. We remain in contact with our local parish councils and with Rushcliffe Borough Council, and participate in the Nottinghamshire Sustainable Food Network and the Nottingham Growing Network.

Directors' remuneration

The total amount paid or receivable by directors in respect of qualifying services was £2,037. There were no other transactions or arrangements in connection with the remuneration of directors, or compensation for director’s loss of office, which require to be disclosed.
