CIC34 REPORT - EARTH KIDS ARTS & SPORTS ACADEMY CIC Reporting Period: 1 December 2024 - 30 November 2025 PART 1: COMPANY ACTIVITIES During the period from 1 December 2024 to 30 November 2025, Earth Kids Arts & Sports Academy CIC delivered a comprehensive programme of weekly classes and special events for children and families in the local community. Weekly Classes (26 hours per week x 30 weeks = 780 hours of class time delivered): - Chinese Language Classes (5 levels, from Pinyin to Year 5): A total of 5 classes provided structured Chinese language education, supported by a homework submission and reward system to encourage active learning. - Chess Classes (Beginner and Intermediate): Classes focused on developing strategic thinking, logical planning, concentration, and resilience through regular practice and friendly competitions. - Art Classes: Sessions encouraging creative expression and imagination, allowing children to freely explore their ideas through colour and form. - Lego Building Classes: Classes designed to develop spatial awareness, creativity, and fine motor skills, with children guided to turn their ideas into tangible creations. - Children's Dance Classes: Classes developing dance skills, artistic expression, and confidence in public performance. - Parents' Dance Classes: Classes held concurrently with children's classes, providing parents with an opportunity to relax, de-stress, and enjoy music and movement during their waiting time. - Building Attention, Confidence & Communication Classes: A skills-based programme helping children improve focus, learning methods, reading strategies, and emotional expression. - Reading Methods Classes: Classes fostering a love of reading and helping children develop effective reading strategies, reducing reliance on screen time. Special Events: - Laser Camp (Military-Style Role-Play Activity): Two field trips were organised. Due to age restrictions, 23 children participated. The activity allowed children to release their usual inhibitions, promoting physical and emotional wellbeing. Parents unanimously reported that the activity was highly beneficial for their children's mental and physical health. - Edinburgh International Marathon 2025: 18 students from Earth Kids participated in races ranging from 1.5km to 5km, with two teachers also taking part in the half-marathon. Students engaged in sustained pre-race training and shared their experiences with peers. Other students supported as cheerleaders, and the event significantly boosted participants' enthusiasm and confidence. Post-race sharing sessions and end-of-term recognition from the school inspired more students and parents to register for the 2026 marathon. PART 2: COMMUNITY BENEFITS The activities delivered substantial and measurable benefits to the local community: - Enhanced Confidence and Self-Esteem: Children across all programmes showed marked improvement in self-confidence. Notably, parents of children in the Building Attention, Confidence & Communication class reported that their child, who previously could not order food at McDonald's independently, was now able to approach staff to exchange a toy they did not like. Another child, who previously could only express themselves through crying, learned to confidently articulate their needs and feelings to parents and peers. - Improved Emotional Regulation and Wellbeing: The Laser Camp provided a safe outlet for children to release stress and inhibitions, leaving them happier and more energetic. The Parents' Dance Class offered caregivers a valuable space to unwind and de-stress. Art classes helped children express their inner thoughts and release emotions creatively - children who were initially shy and required parental accompaniment became independent and joyful by the end of the term. - Development of Strategic Thinking and Resilience: Chess classes cultivated children's logical thinking, planning skills, and ability to handle setbacks. Through regular practice and competition, students developed mental toughness, patience, and inner confidence. - Active Learning and Reduced Screen Time: The Chinese class homework reward system (Pokemon card incentives) successfully motivated children to complete homework proactively, with each student submitting homework at least three times per week. This system also relieved parent-child tension around homework completion. End-of-term results showed that 87% of students achieved 80% or above in their assessments; only 3 students scored below 50%, primarily due to missing more than half of the classes. Importantly, no student withdrew from the Chinese programme throughout the entire year. Lego and Reading classes were also reported by parents to significantly reduce children's screen time at home. - Improved Communication and Social Skills: The Building Attention, Confidence & Communication class directly enhanced children's ability to express themselves appropriately and confidently. Parents expressed deep gratitude for the visible transformation in their children's communication abilities. - Strengthened Community Cohesion: The Edinburgh Marathon event brought together students, teachers, and families in a shared experience of achievement and support. The school community's collective encouragement motivated more families to participate in future events. - Professional Development and Capacity Building: Earth Kids hosted two dance interns from the University of Edinburgh for a 6-week internship, during which they gained valuable practical experience and insights. Parent Testimonials: "My child is now much happier than before and dares to express themselves." - Parent 1 "My child has started to arrange their Chinese homework independently and also helps their younger sibling learn Chinese and submit homework. This has truly freed me from that responsibility." - Parent 2 "My child looks forward to coming to Earth Kids every Sunday and told me: 'Mum, let's not go to other schools - I just want to go to Earth Kids.'" - Parent 3 Intern Testimonial: "I'm so grateful to have met such an outstanding teacher and role model like you during my time studying in Edinburgh. During my internship at Earth Kids, I gained many new insights and had a lot of reflection on education, and I've become much clearer about the kind of person I want to become in the future and the career path I want to pursue! Thank you once again for your help and guidance." - Dance Intern, University of Edinburgh Overall Impact: Across all programmes, Earth Kids delivered a total of 780 hours of classes to the community during the year (26 hours per week x 30 weeks). Students demonstrated increased initiative, persistence, emotional management skills, and organisational abilities, and they were visibly happier. 12 students voluntarily participated in school management roles, gaining valuable early experience in leadership and responsibility. PART 3: BENEFICIARIES The direct beneficiaries of the company's activities were: - 137 students enrolled across all programmes (Chinese classes, chess, art, Lego, dance, attention/communication classes, and reading classes). - Parents and families of these students, who benefited from improved parent-child relationships, reduced homework-related stress, and participation in the Parents' Dance Class. - The wider local community, including both the local Chinese community and the broader Edinburgh community, as Earth Kids serves both groups without restriction. Indirect beneficiaries included: - The families and social networks of the 137 students. - Two dance interns from the University of Edinburgh, who completed a 6-week internship and reported gaining significant valuable learning and experience (see testimonial above). - The wider community that attended special events such as the Laser Camp and Edinburgh Marathon, as well as end-of-year showcases and performances.
PART 4: STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT - Parents provided consistent feedback through informal conversations and end-of-term communications. Feedback on the Chinese class homework system, the Laser Camp, and the confidence-building classes was overwhelmingly positive and directly shaped programme delivery (see testimonials above). - Student feedback was gathered through class participation and observed outcomes, with many students voluntarily engaging in school management and peer sharing. - Interns from the University of Edinburgh provided formal feedback at the conclusion of their placement, expressing appreciation for the practical learning opportunities (see testimonial above).
