Principal activities of the company

The principal activities of the company during the year were the delivery of community-based wellbeing, education and skills activities designed to improve health, confidence and social inclusion. During the year, the company delivered projects including the Wholesome Cooking Project, supported through the Pathway Fund, together with other community activities aimed at promoting healthier lifestyles, practical skills and wellbeing. The company works with local communities, funders and partner organisations to identify needs and develop activities that provide social benefit and support individuals within the community.

Company activities and impact

Sabr and Shukr CIC exists to improve the health and wellbeing of BME communities and racially minoritised women and girls, bridging high health inequalities, in and around Blackburn, Lancashire. During the reporting period, the company delivered 36+ programmes of health and wellness educating, facilitating and capacity-building into health self leadership with values of nature integration, wholesome cooking classes, herbs for wellbeing, culturally informed emotional health and behaviour change. Activities included group workshops all geared towards whole-person, health education and empowerment of which feedback and improvement markers were measured. A key strand of delivery this year was movement from start up phase into growth phase with the help of key grants that supported the facilitation of activities throughout the year. Sabr and Shukr CIC worked in close partnership with its funders throughout the delivery period, maintaining regular communication, demonstrating accountability, and ensuring that the project remained responsive to community needs. In addition to direct delivery, the company invested significant time in planning, safeguarding, quality assurance and ethical governance to ensure that all activities were delivered to a high standard and in line with community needs.

Consultation with stakeholders

The company has actively engaged with funders, community partners and project participants throughout the year. This included working closely with Inclusive North in relation to the Pathway Fund and the delivery of the Wholesome Cooking Project, as well as obtaining informal feedback from participants and community contacts during project activities. This engagement helped the CIC review how activities were delivered, respond to the needs of beneficiaries and maintain transparent relationships with funders and partners. The company continues to use feedback and partnership discussions to shape future activities and identify opportunities to increase its community impact.
