Sabr and Shukr CIC exists to improve the health and wellbeing of BME communities and racially minoritised women and girls, bridging high health inequalities, in and around Blackburn, Lancashire. During the reporting period, the company delivered 36+ programmes of health and wellness educating, facilitating and capacity-building into health self leadership with values of nature integration, wholesome cooking classes, herbs for wellbeing, culturally informed emotional health and behaviour change. Activities included group workshops all geared towards whole-person, health education and empowerment of which feedback and improvement markers were measured. A key strand of delivery this year was movement from start up phase into growth phase with the help of key grants that supported the facilitation of activities throughout the year. Sabr and Shukr CIC worked in close partnership with its funders throughout the delivery period, maintaining regular communication, demonstrating accountability, and ensuring that the project remained responsive to community needs. In addition to direct delivery, the company invested significant time in planning, safeguarding, quality assurance and ethical governance to ensure that all activities were delivered to a high standard and in line with community needs.
The company has actively engaged with funders, community partners and project participants throughout the year. This included working closely with Inclusive North in relation to the Pathway Fund and the delivery of the Wholesome Cooking Project, as well as obtaining informal feedback from participants and community contacts during project activities. This engagement helped the CIC review how activities were delivered, respond to the needs of beneficiaries and maintain transparent relationships with funders and partners. The company continues to use feedback and partnership discussions to shape future activities and identify opportunities to increase its community impact.
