During the financial year, Nature-Ed CIC collaborated with Shinto priests, educators and environmental partners in Osaka, Japan to develop and film an educational documentary exploring nature connection, cultural traditions and environmental stewardship. By working closely with these stakeholders, we began creating accessible educational content (including English and Japanese materials) designed for use by schools, youth groups and community organisations, supporting nature education and intercultural understanding. The community benefits from this work in two main ways: first, current participants and partner organisations gain a platform to share their knowledge and perspectives on nature; second, audiences in the UK and Japan (particularly young people and educators) resources that encourage engagement with the natural environment, reflection on different cultural approaches to nature, and more responsible environmental behaviour.
During the year we consulted key stakeholders involved in the documentary, including Shinto priests, educators and environmental partners in Osaka, Japan. Consultation took place through planning meetings, review of treatment and rough cut materials, and ongoing discussions about how the film can best support nature education. Their feedback has shaped the film’s structure, key themes and accompanying learning resources, ensuring it remains accurate, culturally respectful and useful for educators and community groups.
