2. Accounting Policies
2.1. Basis of Preparation of Financial Statements

company the accounts have been prepared on a going concern basis.
During the year 1,500,000 Ordinary shares at a nominal value of £1 were allotted and issued.
2.3. Turnover
Turnover is recognised to the extent that it is probable that the economic benefits will flow to the
Company and the turnover can be reliably measured. Turnover is measured as the fair value of the
consideration received or receivable, excluding discounts, rebates, value added tax and other sales
taxes. The following criteria must also be met before turnover is recognised:
Sale of goods
Turnover from the sale of goods is recognised when all of the following conditions are satisfied:
- the Company has transferred the significant risks and rewards of ownership to the buyer;
- the Company retains neither continuing managerial involvement to the degree usually
associated with ownership nor effective control over the goods sold;
- the amount of turnover can be measured reliably;
- it is probable that the Company will receive the consideration due under the transaction; and
- the costs incurred or to be incurred in respect of the transaction can be measured reliably.
Rendering of services
Turnover from a contract to provide services is recognised in the period in which the services are
provided in accordance with the stage of completion of the contract when all of the following
conditions are satisfied:
- the amount of turnover can be measured reliably;
- it is probable that the Company will receive the consideration due under the contract;
- the stage of completion of the contract at the end of the reporting period can be measured
reliably; and
- the costs incurred and the costs to complete the contract can be measured reliably.
2.4. Intangible Fixed Assets and Amortisation - Other Intangible
Intangible assets are initially recognised at cost. After recognition, under the cost model, intangible
assets are measured at cost less any accumulated amortisation and any accumulated impairment
losses.
All intangible assets are considered to have a finite useful life. If a reliable estimate of the useful life
cannot be made, the useful life shall not exceed ten years.
The estimated useful lives range as follows:
Basic Payment Scheme entitlements - 6 years
Page 3
Page 4
2.5. Tangible Fixed Assets and Depreciation
Tangible fixed assets are measured at cost less accumulated depreciation and any accumulated impairment losses. Depreciation is provided at rates calculated to write off the cost of the fixed assets, less their estimated residual value, over their expected useful lives on the following bases:
Freehold Freehold land is not depreciated
Property improvements 4% straight line
Plant & Machinery 20% reducing balance
Office Equipment 20% reducing balance
Assets under construction not depreciated
Computer Equipment 20% reducing balance
2.6. Investment Properties
Investment property is carried at fair value determined annually by external valuers or the directors
and derived from the current market rents and investment property yields for comparable real estate,
adjusted if necessary for any difference in the nature, location or condition of the specific asset. No
depreciation is provided. Changes in fair value are recognised in profit or loss and then transferred
to the revaluation reserve.
2.7. Stocks and Work in Progress
Stocks are stated at the lower of cost and net realisable value, being the estimated selling price less
costs to complete and sell. Cost is based on the cost of purchase on a normal farming practice
basis.
At each balance sheet date, stocks are assessed for impairment. If stock is impaired, the carrying
amount is reduced to its selling price less costs to complete and sell. The impairment loss is
recognised immediately in profit or loss.
2.8. Foreign Currencies
Monetary assets and liabilities in foreign currencies are translated into sterling at the rates of exchange ruling at the balance sheet date. Transactions in foreign currencies are translated into sterling at the rate ruling on the date of the transaction. Exchange differences are taken into account in arriving at the operating profit.
2.9. Government Grant
Grants are accounted under the accruals model as permitted by FRS 102. Grants relating to
expenditure on tangible fixed assets are credited to profit or loss at the same rate as the
depreciation on the assets to which the grant relates. The deferred element of grants is included in
creditors as deferred income.
Grants of a revenue nature are recognised in the Statement of comprehensive income in the same
period as the related expenditure.
2.10. Wages and salaries
A proportion of payroll costs are capitalised each year in relation to building projects undertaken at
the farm.
2.11. Biological assets
Livestock are recognised as biological assets and held at deemed cost. Biological assets are not
further depreciated as the deemed cost valuation method is considered to be a more appropriate
basis than applying systematic depreciation.
3. Average Number of Employees
Average number of employees, including directors, during the year was: 16 (2024: 16)
