Coventry Exodus is a Community Interest Company (CIC) dedicated to supporting individuals with complex needs, including drug and alcohol addiction, mental health difficulties, homelessness, and social exclusion. While we specialise in addiction recovery, we house and support people with a wide range of challenges, working to provide stability and a pathway back into society. Over the past year, we have provided safe and structured accommodation for individuals who were homeless or at risk of homelessness. For those in treatment or preparing for detox, we have worked closely with partner agencies to provide accommodation during detox regimes, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for recovery. Our 24-week primary recovery programme has delivered psychoeducational groups, relapse prevention, decision-making skills, and life skills training. We have provided one-to-one support and advocacy, therapy session, equine therapy, fitness sessions, assisting residents with housing benefit claims, appeals, and mandatory reconsiderations to prevent financial hardship and keep people in safe housing. The wider impact of Coventry Exodus includes reducing re-offending rates, lowering the demand on public services such as the criminal justice system, NHS and local authority housing teams, and preventing repeated use of emergency accommodation. Our work has helped parents to reunite with their children, restored family relationships, and supported individuals to re-engage with training, education, and employment. Many of the people who have come through our organisation have gone on to become active members of society – securing employment, volunteering, and giving back to their communities. Every surplus we generate is reinvested into expanding our services, improving our facilities, and enabling us to reach more people in need.
We place strong emphasis on collaboration and consultation to shape the direction of Coventry Exodus. We engage with residents through weekly community meetings, one-to-one sessions, and seek regular feedback to ensure their voices are heard in service delivery. We work closely with partner agencies including front line drug services, mental health services, social workers, and probation teams to ensure joined-up care planning. This helps us support people with multiple needs and create effective transitions from crisis to stability. Our volunteers and peer mentors, many of whom are themselves in recovery, play a key role in supporting residents and informing how we run our programmes. This involvement helps to ensure our service stays relevant, person-centred, and effective.
