We continued to work in partnership with Better Place Bradford, delivering eight nature connection sessions with young children and families in several Bradford parks. Teaching about the importance of worms, pollinators and flowers, caterpillars, trees and fungi. Revealing how fruit and vegetables grow and which animals live in the park. We also talked to attendees about biodiversity, nature and climate change. City of Nature CIC organized and delivered an event entitled “Nature’s Hope” at Lister Park in May 2025 during our City of Culture year. This was supported by the council’s Bradford District Parks team, and other organisations in the sector. This event was created to bring organisations together, celebrate nature, engage the community, and reveal how we can all make a difference to help protect and restore the natural world and tackle climate change. Those attending included, the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, Bradford Urban Wildlife Group, The Peregrine Trail, BEES, The Hedgehoggery, Get Out More, Together We Forest School, Calm in the Wild, Friends of Bradford’s Beck’s, Global Justice Bradford, Another Way, Dr Woodland Wellbeing, The National Education Nature Park, Shipley in Bloom, and Living Well Bradford. During our Lister Park event, we also conducted an anonymised survey, ‘Raise your voice for Nature’, and continued to promote this whilst attending other events in the Bradford District. We collated the public opinions, and in relationship with the Sustainability team at Bradford council, fed the results back, which they included in their wider report for Nature. It was great to have proof that communities want more action taken on nature and climate change. Our survey also revealed that the people of Bradford who took part want to see rewilded verges, more pollinator gardens in parks, more support for community gardens, and more enhanced green spaces across the district. To further promote our work and the importance of biodiversity, we also attended The Big Green week event in Shipley, Action for Nature Day at Cliffe Castle, organised by the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, and the Shipley Harvest Market. We appeared on BCB radio twice, talking both about the importance of biodiversity and the Lister Park event prior to the date. We supported and worked with Nifty Sustainability in Shipley, to deliver an event on the land they manage, Old Spring Wood. This highlighted and recorded the Wildlife that could be found there during summer. As part of the continuing celebrations of City of Culture, we worked with the Bradford Libraries team on their ‘Story Garden’ project, delivering two sessions with children, where we helped them create their own nature storybook. We began our project with Get Out More at Cliffe Castle to help them design a wildlife-friendly garden, which continued in to 2026.
The company’s stakeholders are as follows: Better Place Bradford and the families in the communities, specifically located near: Horton Park, Bradford Moor Park, Peel Park, and Bowling Park. The organisations and members of the public who attended our event at Lister Park. The families who attended our Library Nature Story sessions. Nifty Sustainability in partnership for their nature event. Get Out More and their Nature Natters group in relation to the design of a wildlife-Friendly garden. Consultations came in the form of a survey, which we invited people to take part in throughout the year. This anonymised information was then feedback to the Sustainability team at Bradford Council and became part of their wider report.
