FUTUR.SHOCK CIC exists to support emerging artists working across electronic music, live performance, contemporary art and audiovisual practice, providing opportunities for artists to develop, present and showcase their work to live audiences. During the financial year, the company continued to develop and deliver its interdisciplinary programme of performances, experimental music, contemporary art and collaborative projects. Its activities provided emerging and developing artists with access to professional performance opportunities, audiences and creative networks that can otherwise be difficult to access at an early stage of their careers. A central part of FUTUR.SHOCK’s work is to use music and art to explore issues affecting contemporary society. Its programming has examined themes including anxiety, stress and over-stimulation in modern life, alongside wider questions around mental health, intimacy, sexuality and human connection. By addressing these subjects through creative work and shared live experiences, FUTUR.SHOCK provides audiences with opportunities to engage with challenging subjects in an accessible and thought-provoking way. The company’s activities benefited the community by: * providing platforms and professional opportunities for emerging artists to perform and exhibit their work * enabling artists to gain valuable experience, visibility and connections within the creative industries * giving audiences access to innovative electronic music, performance, visual art and interdisciplinary work * creating spaces in which subjects such as mental health, anxiety, intimacy and the pressures of modern life could be explored collectively through art * supporting the wider cultural community through collaboration with artists, technicians, production teams and other creative professionals * contributing to the continuing development and diversity of the independent arts and electronic music community in East London. Through these activities, FUTUR.SHOCK CIC has continued to fulfil its community purpose by supporting new creative talent while providing culturally valuable and socially relevant experiences for the wider public.

FUTUR.SHOCK CIC’s stakeholders include the emerging artists and performers it supports, audiences attending its events, collaborating creatives, production teams and venue partners. Consultation takes place primarily through ongoing conversations with artists and collaborators during the planning, development and delivery of FUTUR.SHOCK events and projects. The company also receives informal feedback from audiences following performances and through engagement with the wider creative community. These discussions help FUTUR.SHOCK understand what support emerging artists need, how its events are experienced by audiences, and which themes and forms of presentation are most relevant to the community it serves. Feedback from artists, collaborators and audiences has helped inform the development of future programming, the choice of themes explored through the company’s work, and the way events are structured and presented.
