COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

AFGHAN COMMUNITY DEVON CIC

Company Number: 14428194 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 31 October 2025

Company activities and impact

Afghan Community Devon financed a large Eid celebration, in early April 2025, for all the region's Afghan population, held this year in Exmouth. This helped strengthen community ties and included any local non-Afghans who chose to join in. Kabobs and other Afghan foods were served, games and music were played. Afghan Community Devon held a stall at the annual Respect festival in Exeter, which attracted a lot of interest and engagement from the wider public. Afghan crafts were on display and many traditional food dishes were shared. In July, our CIC contributed towards commemorations for Maharam in Exeter.

Consultation with stakeholders

Our stakeholders are the company directors and members of the whole Afghan community of Devon, mainly centred around the town of Exeter. Other stakeholders this year were the Halal food producers in the area, which catered for our feast day gatherings and local supermarkets for other foodstuffs. Consultations with our public stakeholders have largely been through conversations with the (largely Afghan) population of taxi drivers and their families and notifications sent to, and conversations held within the Mosque, which is attended by many Afghans. Through these sources, we receive feedback on what activities are most requested and that require our funding or input. The Respect festival stall enabled engagement with the wider population and generated a great deal of interest and goodwill.
