BEACON CARE AND ADVICE COMMUNITY INTEREST COMPANY

Notes to the Financial Statements

for the Period Ended 30 November 2025

  • 1. Accounting policies

    Basis of measurement and preparation

These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Turnover policy

Turnover is measured at the fair value of the consideration received or receivable. Turnover is reduced for estimated customer returns, rebates and other similar allowances. Revenue from the sale of goods is recognised when all the following conditions are satisfied: the Company has transferred to the buyer the significant risks and rewards of ownership of the goods; the Company retains neither continuing managerial involvement to the degree usually associated with ownership nor effective control over the goods sold; the amount of revenue can be measured reliably; it is probable that the economic benefits associated with the transaction will flow to the Company; and the costs incurred or to be incurred in respect of the transaction can be measured reliably.

    Tangible fixed assets depreciation policy

Tangible fixed assets held for the company's own use are stated at cost less accumulated depreciation and accumulated impairment losses. At each balance sheet date, the company reviews the carrying amount of its tangible fixed assets to determine whether there is any indication that any items have suffered an impairment loss. If any such indication exists, the recoverable amount of an asset is estimated in order to determine the extent of the impairment loss. Depreciation is provided at the following annual rates in order to write off the cost or valuation less the estimated residual value of each asset over its estimated useful life: Plant and machinery 25% reducing balance

    Other accounting policies

Taxation Income tax expense represents the sum of the tax currently payable and deferred tax. The tax currently payable is based on taxable profit for the year. Taxable profit differs from the surplus as reported in the income and expenditure account because of items of income or expense that are taxable or deductible in other years and items that are never taxable or deductible. The Company's liability for current tax is calculated using tax rates that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the end of the reporting period. Deferred tax is recognised on timing differences between the carrying amounts of assets and liabilities in the financial statements and the corresponding tax bases used in the computation of taxable profit. Deferred tax liabilities are generally recognised for all taxable temporary differences. Deferred tax assets are generally recognised for all deductible timing differences to the extent that it is probable that taxable profits will be available against which those deductible temporary differences can be utilised. The carrying amount of deferred tax assets is reviewed at the end of each reporting period and reduced to the extent that it is no longer probable that sufficient taxable profits will be available to allow all or part of the asset to be recovered. Deferred tax assets and liabilities are measured at the tax rates that are expected to apply in the period in which the liability is settled or the asset realised, based on tax rates (and tax laws) that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the end of the reporting period. Current or deferred tax for the year is recognised in the income and expenditure account, except when they relate to items that are recognised in other comprehensive income or directly in equity, in which case, the current and deferred tax is also recognised in other comprehensive income or directly in equity respectively. Trade and other debtors Trade and other debtors are initially recognised at fair value and thereafter stated at amortised cost using the effective interest method, less impairment losses for bad and doubtful debts. Trade and other creditors Short term creditors are measured at the transaction price. Other financial liabilities, including bank loans, are measured initially at fair value, net of transaction costs, and are measured subsequently at amortised cost using the effective interest method.

BEACON CARE AND ADVICE COMMUNITY INTEREST COMPANY

Company Number: 11052328 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 30 November 2025

Company activities and impact

Beacon Care and Advice has continued in our mission to support marginalised adults, particularly those with additional needs in overcoming barriers to services, understand their rights and responsibility and access the help that they need. We have achieved this by provide social care advice, advocacy and information via the phone, email and face to face appointments to the local community. Initially this was funded by income generated from our paid services, Paid Person Representatives for Leicestershire and Rutland County Council and via a small grant from Market Harborough and The Bowdens Charity, which also provides our community space. In September 2024 we were awarded three years funding from the National Lottery We have been able to successfully support some of the most vulnerable people in the district to better manage their situations and achieve their goals. We support adults who have care and support needs, people from the Gypsy and Travellers Community, adults who are homeless or threatened with homelessness, people living with addiction and those suffering from mental health issues. We have built up a proven track record of successfully working with members of the community who have additional needs and where other sources of support have failed or were not available, enabling them to understand their rights and responsibilities, to access services and achieve their goals. This includes continuing to support people from the Gypsy and Traveler Community, people with physical and mental health issues, older people and people facing or experiencing homelessness Demand for our face-to-face advice and advocacy service has continued to grow, demonstrating the success of our approach and the essential need for this service. We receive referrals, and work in partnership with, statutory and voluntary service providers in the district. This includes HDC Housing Team, CAB, Local Area Coordinators, Police, Social Prescribers, DWP, NHS and Food and Hygiene Banks. We are the only service that provides face to face, person centred and individually tailored support within the district. We work collaboratively with service users and service providers to inform our practice and service delivery, plugging the gaps in current service provision. We continued to provide two Neighbourhood Mental Health Cafes within the District. These offer local support for people who need immediate help with their mental health on a drop in basis. These services form part of the NHS Urgent Care Pathway. We have provided work to local people, paying above the Living Wage Foundation’s recommendation. We have encouraged those working within our services to continue to increase their skills and undertake regular training and updates. We also utilise volunteers from the local community to assist with the provision of support, including those with lived experience.

Consultation with stakeholders

Lived experience is central to our ability to achieve our goals. We consult regularly with members of the community including all service users and have a service users forum where we now meet quarterly to discuss the organisations progress against our aims, consider suggestions and check that we are continuing to meet our aims. Regular attendance and quarterly forums including LCC and INT/NHS ensuring evaluation and feedback is explored. We regularly consult with Stake Holders in Market Harborough in which confirms that our service is successfully engaging with members of the community who have previously been had been hard to reach and had experienced barriers to accessing many services. This service user involvement and feedback has been invaluable when bid writing/ applying for funding and has been used as a basis to develop new services. We developed and continue to use feedback systems from those who use our services through evaluation forms. Verbal feedback and pictorial info is offered for those members of the community who have a low level of literacy to ensure that their views are gained. . Discussion and feedback can be provided anonymously or discussed in person to suit the individual. We continued to review and develop systems to measure the impact of our service and increase the accessibility for all. We continued to experience an increase in clients who have self-referred for advice and support alongside referrals from Statutory and VCSE providers. As ever, the request for support from our service is high and we are constantly striving to meet these increasing demands.
