The Company runs from a local studio in the London Borough of Haringey. Our emphasis is focused on delivering skills-based training and workshops to people of all ages, focusing on the youth. During the financial year 2024-2025, our company activities benefited the community in the following ways: - We have given the local community access and opportunity to partake in free skills-based training programs and sessions specialising in creative skills and employability training. - We have given the young people from the community a chance to gain what will help with future job prospects and/or better opportunities including education and apprenticeships. - Brought families in the community together for social interactions, helping to make a stronger and more connected community, which results in bonded families and people through shared experiences. - We created opportunities for young people to work with other young people promoting the need for community engagement and reduced isolation, mental health struggles and youth unemployment. - Provided a place of inclusion, bringing together people of different races, religions and cultures. - We provided enjoyable activities that help with both mental and physical health, particularly as we tried to navigate ongoing health concerns, mental health challenges and unemployment within the community. Offering workshops that improved wellbeing such as slow-stitch, arts and crafting and product making as these hands-on activities encouraged self-confidence, interaction with others and self-development. - We supported those within the community that needed advice, encouragement or sign-posting with any particular challenge i.e education, support groups, health advice, employment etc
The company’s stakeholders are local residents and residents of neighbouring communities that attend House of Akunna Creative Group CIC. - The directors of the company have lived in the London Borough of Haringey their whole lives and developed the business model for the company based on their local knowledge of the area and experience within the creative industry. - Everybody attending the program fills out a questionnaire yearly which have specific questions like age, gender and where they live. This helps to build a profile on the percentage of males/females. Age ranges, ethnicity and percentage of local community attending the program.
