During the year, Creative Circle Cardiff CIC developed and delivered community-focused creative and cultural activity in Cardiff. Its work included creative workshops, public-art and engagement projects, community events, mentoring, and opportunities for young people and emerging creatives to participate in project delivery and production. The company worked particularly with young people and people from Black and other underrepresented communities. Activities helped participants build confidence, creative skills, professional experience and links with cultural organisations, while giving local people accessible opportunities to take part in arts and culture. The CIC also developed partnerships and its organisational capacity so that it could continue providing inclusive, community-led creative opportunities and paid routes into the sector.
The company’s stakeholders included young people and emerging creatives, local residents and community groups, freelance artists and facilitators, delivery partners, funders and cultural organisations. Stakeholders were consulted through conversations and feedback during workshops and events, planning meetings with partners and facilitators, and direct follow-up with participants. Feedback showed a need for accessible and culturally relevant activity, paid opportunities and clearer routes into creative work. In response, the CIC adapted project content and delivery arrangements, worked with community partners, and prioritised practical participation, mentoring and paid project-based opportunities for underrepresented creatives.
During the year the company paid total director remuneration of £12,050 to Ibrahim Abdi for project management, organisational development and delivery work undertaken for the CIC. No other director remuneration was paid and no dividends were paid.
