The year ending 31 October 2025 has been the ninth year of operating/service for the company. During the year we have greatly benefitted the community our company serves by providing a safe and stable provision in which our service users (adults with moderate to severe physical and mental disabilities) can experience a working, inspiring and comfortable environment. Whilst gaining the confidence to cope with responsibilities on a small working farm, they continue to learn functional, vocational and social skills. The company has continued as previous years and made positive advances at the small holding from which we operate. These include maintaining and improving the allotment, caring for the animals already on site and making birdhouses, planters etc from recycled wood and materials. To do this the company has had to consistently purchase or acquire materials and tools for the service users to use such as spades hammers, screw drivers, saws etc. During attendance to the company, the service users have lunch and attend regular outings with members of staff which is paid for or sometimes subsidised by the company. New and creative activities and crafts have been introduced to inspire creativity and keep daily routines fresh and interesting for the service users. The service users have greatly benefitted from the care and environment provided by improving in an educational capacity as well as an emotional capacity. Whilst providing these adults with a place in which they are cared for and can express themselves and be happy, the company is also a welcome respite for parents/ carers of the service users who are in need of help and rest.
The stakeholders in The Summerdale Farm Enterprise CIC are primarily the service users themselves and their parents / carers responsible for their wellbeing. The stakeholders are in daily contact, via telephone, email and face to face contact with the directors and employees of the company and are regularly consulted in conversation as to the effectiveness of the company in regard to our primary goals of caring for their sons/daughters. The directors are available at any time to have consultations with the service users and stakeholders at their convenience but also proactively consult the stakeholders at their home or via the communications mentioned. These consultations are essential and provide invaluable information and guidance as to the day to day running of the company. Each day the directors and employees necessary meet to discuss and implement any changes brought up by the consultations. These would usually be in regard to the daily mental wellbeing of our service users as well as their health. Regular consultation is of paramount importance due to the ill health of some of our service users. As such, up-to-date information is essential and will be recorded and any necessary action taken.
