Principal activities of the company

The Company's principal activity during the year was the organisation of psychobilly music events in Northampton, in furtherance of its community benefit objectives. The festival took place as scheduled in March 2025, once again bringing a diverse line-up of bands to perform for the local community. Building on previous years' success, the event continued to attract enthusiasts from across the country and beyond, with its growing reputation - spread largely by word-of-mouth - driving strong attendance and fostering cultural exchange between visitors and local music lovers. The event also generated economic benefit for Northampton, with visitor numbers supporting local hotels, restaurants, retailers and other businesses over the festival weekend.

  • 1. Accounting policies

    Basis of measurement and preparation

    These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Turnover policy

    Turnover represents the total amount receivable by the Company for goods and services provided during the year, excluding value added tax, trade discounts, and rebates. Turnover from the sale of tickets and event-related income is recognised at the point the event takes place, being the point at which the Company has fulfilled its performance obligations to the customer. Income received in advance of an event taking place is deferred and recognised as a liability until the event occurs.

    Other accounting policies

    Basis of preparation The accounts have been prepared under the historical cost convention as modified by the revaluation of certain fixed assets. Presentation currency The accounts are presented in £ sterling. Turnover Turnover represents the total amount receivable by the Company for goods and services provided during the year, excluding value added tax, trade discounts, and rebates. Inventories Inventories have been valued at the lower of cost and estimated selling price less costs to complete and sell. In respect of work in progress and finished goods.

Throughout the year, the CIC continued to organise music events in Northampton, fulfilling its benefit objectives as outlined below: Activities during the year: 1. Showcasing psychobilly music in Northampton: The C.I.C. once again successfully brought a diverse line-up of bands to perform for the local community, with the festival taking place as scheduled in March 2025. 2. Fostering a vibrant music community: Building on the success of previous years, the event continued to attract psychobilly enthusiasts from across the country and beyond. The festival's growing reputation, spread increasingly through word-of-mouth recommendations, led to a strong attendance. This influx of visitors created valuable opportunities for cultural exchange between out-of-town fans and local music lovers throughout the duration of the events. 3. Stimulating local economy and tourism: The music weekend once again brought a boost for Northampton's economy, with the influx of visitors generating demand for various local services, including hotel accommodations, restaurants, retail shops, and other businesses, contributing to the town's economic vitality.

Consultation with stakeholders

Bedlam Breakout maintains ongoing communication with bands, fans, and the wider psychobilly community throughout the year. While our online presence remains a useful tool, we've seen strong direct engagement and great personal connections within our ever-green growing network of enthusiasts. In the lead-up to our music events, Bedlam Breakout prioritises direct communication with local hoteliers, venues, and other Northampton suppliers. This hands-on approach ensures all stakeholders are well-informed and their needs are met throughout the planning and execution of our arrangements. Our commitment to fostering strong, personal relationships within the community has led to more efficient problem-solving and a more tailored experience for all involved.
