COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

BRO ROOM CIC

Company Number: 13756483 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 30 November 2025

Company activities and impact

During the financial year, the Company ran a weekly peer support service for men in Kendal, providing a safe and confidential space for participants to talk openly about their physical health, mental health, and personal or life difficulties. The sessions were open to any man in the community wishing to attend, and were run on a peer-support basis, allowing participants to share experiences, offer mutual support, and reduce the isolation that many men experience when facing health or personal challenges. By providing a regular, accessible, and stigma-free environment, the service has helped participants build supportive relationships, improve their wellbeing, and feel more able to seek help when needed. The service directly addresses the well-documented barriers men face in accessing traditional mental health support, and contributes to the wider public benefit of improving mental health outcomes and reducing loneliness and isolation within the Kendal community. The service closed shortly before the end of this financial year, having operated successfully for four years and supported around 150 men over that time. On closure, remaining funds were returned to donors and funders in proportion to their most recent donations and grants, with any surplus funds and equipment donated to another local charity.

Consultation with stakeholders

The Company regularly consulted with attendees of the peer support sessions, asking for their views and input on how the group should run, what topics or format would be most useful, and what support they wanted from the service. This informal, ongoing feedback helped shape the way sessions were delivered throughout the year. In addition, the Company engaged with local stakeholders including GPs, social prescribers, and other local charities in Kendal to explore opportunities for joint working, referral pathways, and how the service could best complement existing support available in the community.
