Addresses the traditional skills shortage necessary for the renovation and restoration of furniture and manufacture related to both the traditional and modern. Using industry skills related to the furnish and finish of home interiors to transform lives. Working with discarded furniture, turning it away from landfill, delivering training opportunities leading with the traditional trades of carpentry, upholstery, soft furnishings. Integrating digital and design skills, we help individuals build sustainable careers while reducing waste. Our introductory training course the peripatetic Small House Project, builds confidence in the individual through creative group work activity, leading them on into fully equipped training workshops and various pathways to work. Using environmentally sustainable practices, training craftsmen and women of the future for a better world.
The Directors Dr Sue Quayle and Colin McFadden and Catherine Trillo for HJEM CIC meet on a bimonthly basis to consult on decisions, prospects and review of where we are at an consult throughout when necessary. Directors have visited the workshops in operation and agreed that they work well and want to develop more in the community. We decided on a new bank account which is now open. Currently we are taking a decision on a building we would like to run our workshops from. This is a peppercorn rent possibility with the fundraising for building works, staff, capital equipment etc. There have been no workshop attendee stakeholder consultations held other than feedback and reviews during and after the workshops
Remuneration received by Catherine Trillo, Managing Director £20,000 paid £1,666.66 per month
No transfer of assets other than for full consideration
