The living projects CIC supports community education, wellbeing, and resilience through land based learning and regenerative practice. Based at Pondfield, a four acre site in Dartington, in 2025 the CIC has offered a mixture of workshops, forest school sessions, volunteering days, and open days focused on ecology, biodiversity and sustainable land use, as well as being used by numerous local community groups on a weekly basis. These activities benefit the Dartington, Totnes, and wider South Hams communities by teaching practical skills such as horticulture, natural building and woodland management, while also promoting nature connection and environmental awareness. The site is used as a venue for community events, providing low cost or free access to local groups and initiatives aligned with wellbeing and sustainability. As a community hub and incubator, the CIC supports young entrepreneurs and project partnerships, offering space and collaboration opportunities for those without land access. All surplus is re invested into the infrastructure and staffing to sustain long term community benefit.
The Living Projects Dartington’s stakeholders are predominantly the local community, and members of the CIC. Feedback is gathered at Living Projects events that have stated improvements to site for winter and during heavy rainfall are needed, including infrastructure and covered areas for keeping dry, making paths less slippery and ensuring vegetation is kept free from paths and high traffic areas on the site. We have responded by increasing time and spend on grounds maintenance and improving accessibility by keeping paths clearer and laying down woodchip regularly, grass is mowed more regularly and hedges are properly trimmed free from paths, as well as introducing more covered spaces.
