This year included setting up the mobile care farm. Creating the space and facilities, fences, barns and stables for the animals, as well as marketing and networking. Pakefield Pastures primary activities and impact is providing animal therapy visits to care homes, schools, colleges and community organisations and settings. Spending time with animals is proven to improve wellbeing, reduce anxiety and stress, improve memory recall and help older people with dementia. By visiting schools with children with SEND, our animals help children to improve their concentration and academic achievement. By visiting care homes our animals help older people with dementia to recall memories and interact positively with staff. By visiting many community organisations, especially those working with people with poor mental health, our animals help people improve their wellbeing and reduce depression. This provides a benefit to the community and individuals. During this year we met with more than 1500 people across all our settings and visits. Our animals include lambs, sheep, goats, guinea pigs, rabbits, ducks, hens, chicks, kune kune pigs, alpacas, donkeys and a Shetland pony.
