Company activities and impact

Move and Soothe Wellness is an organisation devoted to providing free / low cost and accessible yoga and wellbeing practices to the community. We operate within South Gloucestershire and Bristol. The following is an overview of our activities from our start up date of 5th December 2024 until 31st December 2025. FREE YOGA FOR ANXIETY SESSIONS: - Throughout the reporting period, we provided free weekly yoga sessions for NHS patients, specifically to help manage anxiety. - Sessions provided participants with movement, breathing and relaxation techniques to help alleviate symptoms of anxiety. - We ran a total of 40 free sessions during the reporting period, with an average of 12 participants per session. - Testimonies for these sessions include; "Thanks to the sessions, I feel more able to handle things that usually induce anxiety. In particular, the breathing exercises I've learnt and practiced in class have taught me ways to self regulate, which have been invaluable! I also find I sleep much better after sessions. I 10/10 recommend this class to others.” "I find these classes extremely useful in helping me relax and self regulate. I wouldn’t be able to afford yoga classes, so thank you so much for providing these classes for free, they’re making a real difference to me.” - To enable use to offer these sessions for free, we received a small payment for each class to cover teacher costs from the Power Up Movement Programme (PUMP), a physical activity social prescribing initiative in Bristol funded by the BrisDoc Community Fund. FREE / LOW COST CHILDREN’S YOGA SESSIONS: - Throughout the reporting period, we provided free yoga sessions to local primary school children. - The aim of the sessions were to introduce and provide the benefits of yoga (eg building strength & flexibilty, reducing stress and promoting self regulation) to children. - We ran 2 free sessions per week for 18 weeks (36 sessions total) during the reporting period, with an average of 40 children attending each week. - Additionally, we ran 2 low cost sessions for 6 weeks (18 sessions total), with an average of 20 children attending each week. - Testimonies for these sessions include: “Yoga has been great for XXXX, she has found it really fun and engaging! Having a weekly theme has been brilliant - we enjoy discussing these with her at home as well as learning all the different poses". “Just wanted to say how much XXXX enjoys Yoga Club! They have been counting down the days until the next session! We’ve been incorporating the breathing exercises at home, which has helped with regulating their emotions, thank you!” FREE CANCER PATIENT AND FAMILY DAY: - We provided a free yoga session to neuroendocrine cancer patients as part of their Patient and Family Day. - Participants were led through gentle, adapted postures, breath work and guided relaxation with the aim to reconnect with the body positively, improve mobility and flexibility and switch off from overthinking. - Over 10 groups of patients and their families attended the session. - Testimonies for the session include: “I thoroughly enjoyed today’s yoga class! My body feels more relaxed and mobile. It was wonderful just to feel normal for a while.” HEATHFEST (FAMILY FESTIVAL): - We provided a free and welcoming space throughout the duration of a local festival for parents and children to come together and practice mindfulness, play and connect with nature. - Over 100 visitors attended a session throughout the festival. - Testimonies for these sessions include: “It was so special to be part of learning the basics of yoga in such playful and enjoyable way with my children and my mother! All three generations had a great time!” FREE OUTDOOR YOGA: - Over the course of six weekends throughout the summer, we offered free outdoor yoga sessions to local residents. - These sessions were beginner friendly and welcoming to all ages and abilities. - We had over a 80 visits to our outdoor sessions. - Testimonies for these sessions include: “These summer sessions have been brilliant! They’ve allowed me to try out yoga in a fun and low pressure environment and also given me the opportunity to meet and socialise with lots of my neighbours! I can’t wait for them to return again next year!” Total free participant places during the reporting period: 2130 Total low cost participant places during the reporting period: 360

Consultation with stakeholders

The stakeholders are the beneficiaries of the yoga sessions, as well as our partner organisations who we work with to deliver sessions to members of our services. Discussions are held, and surveys are circulated, at the end of all our programmes to gain feedback and establish impact (as shown in some of the example testimonies included in Part One). Highly positive outcomes have been reported, in particular relating to the mental health and wellbeing of beneficiaries. Examples of feedback resulting in improvement action include making one of the venues used more wheelchair accessible and offering prerecorded online classes for those unable to attend a class in person.
