The directors present their report with the financial statements of the company for the period ended 30 November 2025

Principal activities of the company

At the Root Arts Creative Beans - engaged 3-5 year olds in a six week creative arts programme at Bellsquarry Village Hall. 8 children participated in various activities including drama, music, dancing and crafts. The primary aim was to develop new skills, build confidence and provide a space for children to be creative. Creative Sprouts - engaged 5-11 year olds in a six week creative arts programme at Bellsquarry Village Hall. 7 children participated in various activities including drama, music, dancing and crafts. The primary aim was to develop new skills, build confidence and provide a space for children to be creative. Weekly Drama Workshops - engaged children and young people in weekly drama workshops across West Lothian aged 4-18. 52 children and young people participated in the activities on a weekly basis. The aim of these workshops was to explore theatre, grow in confidence, make new friends and have fun. Performance Club - engaged children in weekly performance club workshops in Livingston. 4 children participated on a weekly basis. The aim of these workshops is to build performance skills, grow in confidence and to have fun. Summer of Play - engaged children across West Lothian and East Lothian in Summer activities including one day workshops and weeklong Summer camps. Over 700 children participated in the Summer of Play activities.

Company activities and impact

At the Root Arts is a CIC based in West Lothian but working across the Lothians with an emphasis on providing creative activities to grow confidence, build communities and create meaningful experiences for communities, people and places through the creative arts. During the year 2024-2025, the company activities have benefited the community in the following ways: - Children and young people have engaged in weekly workshops, holiday programmes and performance opportunities in a range of places and communities. - Over 3,000 participants have benefitted from involvement and engagement in activities provided by the CIC. - We have worked with several partners across the year including schools, development trusts and national funding bodies. - Engaging audiences with new work produced alongside children and young people. - Providing training and work for 40+ creative facilitators working in Scotland.
