| 2. | ACCOUNTING POLICIES |
Basis of preparing the financial statements
The financial statements are presented in sterling (£), which is the functional and presentation currency of the company.
Critical accounting judgements and key sources of estimation uncertainty
In the application of the company’s accounting policies, the directors are required to make judgements, estimates and assumptions about the carrying amounts of assets and liabilities. These estimates are based on historical experience and other factors considered to be relevant and reasonable under the circumstances. Actual results may differ from these estimates.
The key areas of judgement and estimation uncertainty are as follows:
Valuation of investment property
The company’s investment property is held at fair value. The directors consider that the carrying value reflects its current market value; however, this is subject to estimation uncertainty and may differ from the price achievable on sale.
Turnover
Turnover represents rental income receivable from the letting of the company’s investment property and is recognised on a straight-line basis over the period to which the rental relates.
Turnover excludes value added tax and is stated after any discounts or rebates.
Interest income arising on bank deposits and amounts due from directors is not included within turnover and is recognised separately within other income, accruing on a time basis by reference to the principal outstanding and the applicable interest rate.
All turnover is derived from individuals or institutions based in the United Kingdom.
Investment property
Investment property is shown at most recent valuation. Any aggregate surplus or deficit arising from changes in fair value is recognised in profit or loss.
Financial instruments
The company applies Section 11 "Basic Financial Instruments". Financial assets and liabilities are recognised at transaction price and subsequently measured at amortised cost.
Taxation
Taxation for the year comprises current and deferred tax. Tax is recognised in the Income Statement, except to the extent that it relates to items recognised in other comprehensive income or directly in equity.
Current or deferred taxation assets and liabilities are not discounted.
Current tax is recognised at the amount of tax payable using the tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the balance sheet date.

| 2. | ACCOUNTING POLICIES - continued |
Deferred tax
Deferred tax is recognised in respect of all timing differences that have originated but not reversed at the balance sheet date.
Timing differences arise from the inclusion of income and expenses in tax assessments in periods different from those in which they are recognised in financial statements. Deferred tax is measured using tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the year end and that are expected to apply to the reversal of the timing difference.
Unrelieved tax losses and other deferred tax assets are recognised only to the extent that it is probable that they will be recovered against the reversal of deferred tax liabilities or other future taxable profits.
Going concern
The financial statements have been prepared on a going concern basis. The directors have considered the company’s financial position and are satisfied that it will be able to meet its liabilities as they fall due for a period of at least twelve months from the date of approval of these financial statements.
