Company activities and impact

During the financial year, the CIC delivered its first funded community project, The Freedom Table - From Passion to Possibility, supported by The National Lottery Community Fund. The programme provided 24 funded places for women from across the North West, delivered through two cohorts between September and December 2025. It was designed for women who were rebuilding confidence, facing employment challenges or interested in exploring opportunities to generate income through their skills and passion for food. The programme combined personal development with practical food-business education and was structured as a six-week programme with additional follow-up support. Participants who engaged with the programme were supported to explore their food ideas and consider how these could be developed into practical income-generating opportunities. Topics covered included food-business registration and compliance, food hygiene and allergen awareness, setting up a suitable working kitchen, menu development, costing and pricing, identifying customers, marketing and social media, selling with confidence, and basic financial management. The project benefited the community by providing women with practical knowledge, confidence-building, support and access to a supportive peer environment. Participants were encouraged to develop clearer next steps towards self-employment, further learning or other income-generating opportunities. Those who progressed to the final stage of the programme were also given the opportunity to share their food-business idea, offer and future plans as part of a Show & Tell celebration
